The second Oscar factory at Maebashi still has not repaired its first production line. [:-]

I assume you remembered to turn on the supply vacuum? IIRC Maebashi starts with little or no LCUs => Little or no supply.

Actually that was the issue - confirmed with Michaelm - we must have 10K supply to repair factores - same as stock !!!

In the early phases of the war - the allies will be missing their stock ability to see all the planes at the Japanese based - due to FoW. But once the Allies get lots of recon planes - the same stock ability will return. As the Allies will be able to see the planes at least at the forward bases - not the ones that just moved their during the current turn - but any that had been there before. The Allied stock abilities are watered down a bit - but they are not gone.

thx for the answer! It´s at least somewhat better that the Allied players doesn´t get an airfield symbol (without recon) as soon as you transfer ac in.

Results

Another great day for the Allies.

The AVG is romping in China - we have no atidote except possibly Oscars once we get some - but it will be months. So to preserve our airforce we will have to pull them back from the front.

Our landing is going in at Miri, the troops are ashore, hopefully next turn we will land some supply, then we can attack the tuirn after.

We attacked at Kota Bharu and were successful (second attack). We fly in a few Oscars to cover the beach head.

Second attack at Hong Kong was unsuccessful. A couple of other attacks in Central and Northern China were successful.

Planning

The 33ID and 21ID are passing through the Formosa straights enroute to Burma and Malaya respecctively. Our aircraft right around Formorsa seemed to have suppressed the USN submarines we know are in the are sufficiently to allow safe passage thus far.

Elements of the 16ID will begin to unload at Aparri this turn. The second regiment of the 48ID has loaded at Mako and is proceeding towards Luzon.

We will unload supply at Miri this turn.

Many units are railing through Thailand enroute for Malaya.

Second wave elements of 18ID and initial elements of 56ID have acquired escorts at Cam Ran Bay and will now proceed towards Malaya.

Results

Well, this was definitely a "Nik" turn ... he went in to Davao, took Legaspi and Wake, and fought off the PTs boats this turn as well as some air strikes.

Here is Nik fighting off some PT boats at Legaspi (there was more than one attack but we show one) ... I think he actually sank 3 PT boats and only took damage to one DD from enemy MG rounds.

Planning

Miri will now act as the jumping off point for the attack on Kuching. We flew in a Zero Chutai which will first just CAP the ships at Miri, but them ultimately will cover CAP the landing at Kuching. The Kongo/Haruna group at Miri, will provide the heavy cover. The landing troops have loaded at Cam Ranh Bay (the 35th Bde and a SNLF) and the air support troops are loading at Saigon.

I can do it now becuause I have "special abilities" - [;)][:D] - though we do hope to roll this capability out to everyone one day. We are testing it now.

I just wanted to throw in here that having that ability would be beyond awesome! Would help move things along during slow times of PBEM's so much.

Joe, awesome AAR. I am curious about some of your short-term planning:

1. What are your plans for the 4th Division and 2nd Division troops that start in the Home Islands? I believe the 2nd has a RCT loaded turn 1 and pointed at Kuching, but that seemed to me like too long a sail without magic move; I turned them around and unloaded.

I basically sent the 2nd to SW Pac (PM, etc), and the 4th to Luzon to close that out early, but I'm looking for other ideas.

2. What are your plans past Miri? Would it have been wiser to NOT land on Miri, but damage the Engineers to minimize damage to facilities, or does that not make much difference?

3. Why Kuching? Singkawang looks like a better option to me now as a follow-on. Only advantage of Kuching is that a couple units are prepped for it, but Singkawang falls easily without prep, if you bring 100 av or so.

4. What are your plans in Southern DEI? Menado? Ambon? Davao? I'm not sold on Davao as an initial target. I like Ambon, and that's very doable with the troops prepped for Legaspi that start at Palau, provided you detach a couple cruisers to cover (or a couple BBs from Japan). I am still pondering how to really get an offensive going from here, but I think basically you need:
-Air HQ from Takao
-Base Force from HI
-Supplies, Fuel shipped turn 1 from HI
-A Bat Div
-Transfer Zeros/Nells after first few turns
It's tougher than WITP for sure, but I like a thrust toward Timor early to cut the DEI from Northern Oz

5. Rabaul: I think I prefer to bypass Guam, and use those troops to land on Rabaul. The AI won't evacuate the Lark Bn though, which is proving a tough nut for the SouthSeas troops. I suspect a human will airlift it out to PM using Catalinas. Still pondering this one, but I like taking Rabaul early. This can be supported using KB, plus some extra base forces from Japan or Palau; Truk starts with a nice stockpile of fuel, plus a fleet HQ and a couple other goodies that will help move things along.

The Guam base force can't really grow, and all they can really do is dig trenches. It's so small though that a Nav Gd. unit from Japan can clean it up much later.

Q-Ball,

Nik is basically responsible for the Celebes, New Guinea, Timor, the Spice Islands, the Eastern side of Borneo and even Eastern Java. Per post 01 of this thread I gave him 2ID, 4ID and 56 Bde. So most of your questions are really Nik questions - I actually do not know his detailed plans - though I can see that 4ID has been broken down and planning for various locations has begun.

I sent Nik 1 Betty Sentai and 2 Zero Sentai from Formosa, I will send him other naval air units as he requests them.

Most of your questions are really in Nik's area - I'll nudge him to answer!

Planning

The Kuching Invasion is at sea off Cam Ranh Bay. The 35 Bde and a SNLF will assault, there is a Naval Air HQ in the TF group which will provide Torpedo capability once we are ashore. The Kongo/Haruna group currently at Miri will join up for Heavy support.

Otherwise you can see that Alor Setar has fallen and we are advancing Southward in Malaya from Kota Bharu as well as on the Western side of Malaya.

The only activity of note here is that we are converting one of the Merchant factories over to Naval. We did turn on both the Shinano and Taiho for a few turns, but Naval build points were declining too quickly, so we turned Shinano back off. Yamato and Musashi are turned on now.

Air Action

Today saw more air action than we've seen in a long time. Allied bombers hit Japanese troops moving in Northern Malaya, B17s struck Saigon, Chinese bombers escorted by AVG fighters struck troops in central China, to mention a few.

Here is a strike on Rahaeng in Thailand. We think we actually got three Blenhein "fighters" for the loss of one Oscar.
