October 9, 1940 : What a difference a week makes. The weather has broken and there is mud everywhere. The Soviets have adjusted to the proficency of the German Army, and will no longer act like deer in the headlights. To make matters worse, Romania has declared war on the Axis, and has joined the British. We did get Hungary, but Romania is much more valuable. Ouch, ouch, ouch.
We captured Kaluga, but now much stronger Soviets are between our tired troops and Moscow.
