where can i find the scenerio "Directive 21"? I think it has something to do with operation Barbarossa...

Has your tutorial the intention to play it and read the tutorials you write simultaneously?

Directive 21 is the scenario designed by Steve Sill and it's still in the playtesting stage but I've found it remarkable so far.  It's like Fire in the East ( you know the big monster scenario of Germany's invasion of Russia in June 1942 ( yes operation Barbarossa ) and is different in that it's designed for a player to play the Axis side against a Soviet PO. 
I'm playing it even as we speak and yes I'm putting together an AAR of what I find about it.  You can find my AAR here:

Needless to say I like this scenario a LOT.

Thanks for doing this! I got TOAW a year or so ago and have fiddled with it some, but needed something like this to really get me going. Great stuff.

You're welcome. It was a labor of love. Really. I love TOAW so much it's just about all I play anymore. After Curt Chambers and I played a game of FITE I took a month off because I was burned out. 287 turns over a period of four months with an average of about 0.9 turns per day tends to do that. I dreamed about TOAW. I saw hexes in the carpet. I was absorbed in the game. Total immersion. It was really cool. Now I'm playtesting Directive 21 and August Fog both of which were designed by Steve Sill. He did a really good job on those bad boys and I'm having a blast. How the hell did I miss this? This is excellent stuff. These should be hosted somewhere more permanent.

I'm putting together a collection of html documents that explains my modus operandi for rank beginners. These are the documents I wish I had when I was learning the game. I'm limiting the size of the documents so that they are under 10M bytes in size so it won't be much of a burden to download them. These things read like a very very detailed AAR.

You're welcome Topo.  I'll do some more if you really want me to.  Right now I'm playtesting August Fog ( it's a great simulation of the Battle of the Bulge ) and Directive 21 which is Operation Barbarosa with a Soviet PO if you're really into Monster scenarios.  TOAW is the best wargame I've ever played and I hope you find it enjoyable too.  Ask any questions you want to...I'm sure somebody has the answer for you.  Welcome to the forum.

Hi Larry. I just got this game and I must admit I am kinda overwhelmed right now. It seems like a good game but I am having trouble understanding everything. I downloaded your first document but no pictures will show up when I open it. I'm kind of computer retarded I guess. Any suggestions?

I dl'd it, and the narrative and pictures are in different folders. Did you click on the 'images' folder? That should open a different window for all the pictures.

So um.......all you have to do is unzip the zip file and double click on the file that ends in 'html'. Your browser, hopefully, will open the html document and look in the images folder for the pictures that the html file calls upon. All I can say is that while I'm writing the html document and saving the pictures to the images directory it works for me. I can't imagine what is going wrong on your computer or what it is that isn't working correctly for you.

Did you unzip the html document only?

Did you move the html document so that it's no longer in the parent folder with the images directory as a child folder?

I'm attaching a picture of the directory(s) that I'm using while I build the package. Maybe that'll help.

I think you might have disabled "ActiveX", at least that was what happened to me. Browser gave me a "warning" so I enabled ActiveX and the problem was solved.
And thank you Mr. Fulkerson for the helpful hints and tips. Very much appreciated.
