Turn 9

The 4th Marines RLT arives from Okinawa and lands at Chu Lai to set up a third Marine enclave in Vietnam,also an concrete airstrip will be built.The 3rd Recon Battalion sets out on a patrol towards Tra Bong and encounter a hidden VC unit Airstrikes are to be called in.
Two new CIDG camps are set up and units from the 173rd Airbourne Arrive at Bien Hoa airbase

The combined arms operation started in turn 8 was successfully cocluded as VNMC 1st and 3rd Battalions attack and evap VC unit near Tien Ton.
Below is the continuing operation near Chu Lai
The resulting attack by ground units resulted in the VC suffering 8% losses

Turn 10

A clear and secure operation is carried out by 2/3 Marines around Le May village no enemy are spotted.
The ARVN 1/11 Rangers patrol towards Que Son village 40km south of Da Nang VC are seen in the village F4s from VMFA 531 and G/Ships from VMO2 are sent to bomb the target whilst 3 Co of Marines from DaNang are choppered in

Turn 11 A new CIDG camp is opened at Lac Thien,tHE 2/503 Airbourne conduct a search and destroy mission 25km north of Bien Hoa no enemy are encountered.US Marines again assault Que Son and inflict losses on the VC. A VC Regiment attacks and captures Phuoc Binh a regional Capital north of Saigon,ARVN commanders plan an operation to recapture the City,ARVN 5th Div is ready for operations and elements are earmarked for the recapture of Phuoc Binh

The ARVN 5th Div attack a VC regiment and force it to retreat into Phuoc Binh

US Marines and ARVN attack VC south of Chu LAi
The VC suffer 10% cassualties to the Marines 7%

Turn 12 The VC attacked units of the 5th ARVN Div evaping 2 Battalions before melting away into the Jungle and leaving Phuoc Binh to be retaken.
A new CIDG camp opens at Dak Sut,The Aussies are here 1st RAR lands in Vietnam.
ARVN II CTZ orders the road between Pleiku and Kontum to be opened.The Marines at Que Son are denied another bash at the VC as they disappear
The 1/503 Airbourne are tasked to conduct a search and destroy mission north of Vung Tau no enemy are encountred

Turn 13

VC activity in numerous areas,Chu Lai Airfield is open to aircraft 2 A4 Squadrons are based there,ARVN Rangers and 2 Battalions of the 5th Div assault Polai Kleng
Below is a veiw of Long An district south of Saigon,ARVN and US forces are to start clearing out VC strongholds and to this end forces are made available including
VNMC 1/3 and 4th Battalions,30th and 52nd ARVN Rangers,ARVN 6th Armd Battalion and Assets from 173rd Airborne other forces will be made available as needed

A VC unit has emerged from the jungle near My Son and attacked the ARVN 5th Airborne,US Marines will engage the enemy after the Skyhawks have bombed the Target,THe VC unit suffers 27% losses as US Marines attack

At Phu Loc VC Local forces have attacked and captured the Village forcing the 1/53rd ARVN Inf to retreat,US Navy bombard the VC at Phu Loc then US Marines will retake the Village.The attack is succesfull and US Marines retake the village

Hey Boonie a quick question after starting operation Da Chi 129 ive had no VP awarded what is the criteria for this destroying the VC HQ?,i havent used all the forces in the briefing one was in reorg.

Did you actually destroy that HQ? by the screenshot you've posted you've not conducted the operation exactly where it was supposed to happen

I played and enjoyed this scenario some time ago. But I really wasn't able to understand wich is the criteria for the VP award. I have to simply use the right units in the right hex or I am supposed to found and destroy the enemy unit sitting there somewhere? Or every mission have his own VP award criteria?

Hi Sker some of the missions you carry out from the breifing are wild goose chases you find no VC but you still get the VPs the mission in the post you quoted i was in the wrong area so didnt get any VPs but did find VC i didnt read the mission brief correctly and was looking in the U Minh forest not 10km South east of Kien Long,I dont think you have to destroy any units you find just get there and claim the VPs

Mission VPS are allocated after occupying a specific hex in the operational area (units don't really matter), some are obvious, some are less so

Turn 14

A quiet turn by the VC,A new CIDG camp is opened at Hai Yen,US/ARVN forces capture the villages of Ben Luc and Rach Kien south of Saigon with no enemy interferance.Below the US/ARVN operation to capture Can Duoc continues with Airstrikes from CAGs at Dixie station and 173rd Airbornes Arty bombards the target.The assault on Can Duoc is a success as the VC unit is evaped,Thurther north at Phu Cat units fron the ARVN 22nd Div capture the village
