More Russian units are showing up but I'm not sure what they are. I know there were 2 more BA's there a moment ago. Those vehicles have 45mm guns on them vs my 20mm. Better to go slow here.
They seem to still be around the farmhouse. We'll see.
This gives a better view of the on map texturing that can bee seen when the trees are removed. It's easy to tell which terrain type is which. Also, the TAC map, in the bottom right corner, shows terrain types by color as well.

Moving forward slowly a PzII engages the Russian BA's. While at the same time the BA targets one of the PzII's.

The targeted PzII also opens fire.
Things are starting to get serious now.

At first glance,I thought this was an ASL map. The colours are almost exactly the same as the SK boards.
Oh, and loving the AAR.

There are dozens of textures I could have chosen from to display on the map. I used these because they were the ones I liked best.
Good Hunting.

The end result was another BA destroyed but the PzII took a mobility hit.
This tank won't be moving for the rest of this fight.

During Orders Phase of turn 6 the only order I gave was to unbutton the damaged Panzer.
I want to see what the Russians are going to do. I still have no idea how many of them there are. If nothing happens this turn I'll move one platoon out into the field and try a flanking maneuver.
There was an engagement but neither side did any serious damage this phase.
Good Hunting.

I gave no orders for Reaction Phase turn 6 either. So for this entire turn I gave the order for a single PzII to unbutton.
There was lots of action this phase.
2 Russian armored cars were destroyed.
1 Russian armored car was damaged.
4 other hits were attained on Russian armored cars without any results.
Sgt Baedeker's platoon, which is the lead platoon, had both his and the number 4 tank run out of AP ammo.
Running out of AP ammo in an armored engagement is not good. The number 4 tank of the platoon is also the one that has mobility damage.
Good Hunting.

Moving Lueder's Platoon out into the field to flank the road. Immediately they take enemy fire. The fire made the PzII button up but the Germans knock out another BA.

Taking hits.
The second platoon starts it's flanking move.
Victory level indicators are just about even in the middle of the gauges. That could mean a lot of things and in the end probably means nothing. When one side or the other has their gauge move to the top of the range the game will end. That doesn't mean you will win. It means that side ended the game. Lots of results can be obtained with the victory levels being at any level when the game ends. More FOW for those of you that like it.
Good Hunting.

Here is my first PzII getting knocked out. Those 45mm guns are dangerous.
This PzII, on the road, was hit hard. It has lost it's commander and gun. The tank was never killed but took so much damage that the crew abandoned it.

After a further exchange of shots the BA is destroyed.
Notice that the victory levels are almost exactly even at this point.

Looking up the hill with a clear LOS.
The highlighted boxes surrounding two of my tanks in the HUD show that those two tanks are taking fire from an enemy unit. In this particular case it is my two platoon leaders that are taking fire.
Ammo loads are becoming critical but at the same time the Russians are steadily losing AC's.
SSgt Steiner has arrived during the reaction phase with a two tank platoon. I'm waiting to see what direction I need to take him before committing him to the battle.
Good Hunting.

The view without the trees in the way. This allows us a clear idea of the underlying terrain and the enemy disposition.

During the Reaction Phase of turn 9 there was another major gun duel between the two sides. Again, the Germans knock out another AC.
Russian losses are not great at any one time but they have to be adding up losing one each phase. This is reflected with the German Victory Gauge moving higher while the Russian Victory Gauge staying at the same level.
Good Hunting.

Can you tell your units to conserve ammo if it starts getting low? Been so long since I played Kharkov I can't recall if that was an issue or not.
