Next turn we will FT in a Bn to Mersing, following that the main force of the 56th Div will land. This should cut off their force north.

We have arrived at Taiping chasing a fleeing Bn. It will fall next turn. We will continue to push south... Alor Star is really proving to be a pain

Sinkawang falls, construction troops are a turn away. Lots of shipping moving into Kuching and it is building nicely. Soon the air flotilla HQ will step forward and the Div HQ will move to support the Burma area.

The Kendari invasion force is one hex out.

Philippines
We are closing on Clark with 1200 AV. Another 400 or so is loaded at Hong Kong and on its way. Another 600 AV (4th Div +) is also on its way.

The aim is to decisively crush the Philippines as quickly as possible.

Pacific

Rabaul invasion is poised waiting for KB (which is almost at Truk). So this will start in earnest soon. The KB will then transition to a DEI/North Australia Raid to sink ships....

Lots of attacks, in particular off the West Coast, no hits. They attack but miss an AV heading into Kuching. Thre are 2 AV's there now and their aircraft are conducting ASW.

Malaya/Burma
Troops are moving in towards Alor Star. Another 3-4 days and we will have enough to really hurt them.

We land at Mersing against light opposition. The 3rd Cavalry regiment and 3? other units are there but don't bombard. we have 60AV ashore, with about 300 about to arrive. This should trap 6-9 enemy units out of Singapore. Biggest risk is that they move aircraft in to hit the transports, all available fighters are LRCaping the invasion force.

China Plans North 20 Dec 1941

The three cities of Chengchow, Loyand and Nanyang are the objectives.

We intend to push through to Nanyang, invest with a blocking force, then turn back and take on the others.

The aim is to push enemy units into the wild or on the minor road to Sian.

Sian may be considered in the future.

As you can see we have just about cleared the approaches to Clark. Manila is held by 1 unit. Everything else is at Clark (26 Units) or Bataan (9 units). We are resting and waiting for the next two divisions to move up...

Strategic thoughts.

I was worried that my tardiness in Malaya would mean that extra forces would be needed to take Singapore. Now it looks like at least 4 bdes are trapped out of Singapore, and another 2 bdes (including the Australian 27th) well trashed. This means the odds are favourable for us to take it ahead of Schedule.

So time to start planning "what next".

Burma is top of our priority. The 33rd Div is about to start unloading at Bangkok. I have also freed up 21st Ind Mixed Bde and it is moving to northern Thailand at the moment. These forces will be reinforced with two Tk Regiments that are at Alor Star and start pushing into southern Burma.

Sumatra is next. Forces are preparing at Kuching and will be ready to launch in about 2 weeks.

Southern Borneo will be taken using 1-2 SNLF currently taking Pakhoi, and 3 smaller units. Starting in about 2 weeks.

Looking longer term we want to "interfere" with India... not a full blown invasion, but Ceylon is tempting, or Cox's Bazaar (Akyab is a given). These would be spoiling attacks. The forces taking Singapore may head that way, or go to Java, freeing the Phillipine forces to go hunting elsewhere... we will make that call when Singapore falls, we will know within a week how we are going in the Philippines...


Their actions at the moment are leading us to the conclusion that they are fleeing hard, and will not commit to Java or Sumatra. A pity as that makes it harder for us. We will probably have to go hunting them to achieve our original strategy...

We notice that there is no action in Suva yet (we have 4 subs in the area) but Auckland goes to a level 6 port. This indicates that they will play it safe and conduct a buildup in NZ... another smart move... sod it.

We don't have specific plans for Fiji or Noumea beyond raids.

We are happy in China, we appear to have caught them and look forward to clearing out what we want, then digging in. We would like to divert forces to Burma to ensure the Chinese are strangled by supply limitations.

We are about to start raiding some interesting places with our CV's...

We are now at Nanyang with a 400AV div. We will bombard to see what is there then eiether attack or wait. 3 Div are marching into Chengchow from the SW.

We have cleared the road to Sinyang and a large force is almost assembled to push north to Nanyang.

They continue to pull forces out. They may be planning to concentre on the southern flank.

Supply is tight in China and convoys are bringing more in from Japan.

I'm personally not too worried about "forcing" a CV action. That is not part of our core plan.. if it happens that would be nice. We are not relying on a single weapon system, or advantage, in our planning. Certainly having superiority makes the planning simpler, but relying on it is not a good thing.

The aircraft loss report shows 11 AVG aircraft lost to "ops". So we either got one squadron on the ground (one is flying over Rangoon) or the two Chinese squadron's had moved out , but not all aircraft... either way a great result, the raiders are being pulled out, we may move in some leg infantry...

Over Rangoon we loose one Oscar for an AVG aircraft or two.

The 33rd Div is almost unloaded at Bangkok, elements are being flow in to Tavoy... I like airmobile operations

We get the better of the action, it looks like the BC couldn't rearm at Sorebaya. But our force pulls back, having expended only 1/3rd of its ammo. Visibility:

Two enemy BB's are now reported sunk. I think it is just delayed reporting, Tony things they have tried to move them and they have sunk. He is moving in some subs in case more are being moved around.

As you can see we are spread out, but have broken the enemy up nicely with the Mersing landing.

Here is the situation around Java. Should be an interesting next turn.

We are concerned about Swordfish/Vilderbeast, but they appear to be operating out of Sumatra.

China we have diced them up nicely, won a series of battles quite decisively and are on our objectives. The hard slog will start soon, but unless we stuff up badly this area is in the bag, they have lost too much force, and have been broken up piecemeal.

We don't want to kill the units off though, just force them off the main routes.

Even in Central china out of Shanghai we have trashed their forces and they are in full retreat... even though we don't have a lot to follow up with.

At Pakhoi we are shock attacking again, but with more air support.

Great move at Toungoo, and a nasty slaughter at Darwin. From the Allied perspective, their SCTF are taking something with them to Davy Jones' Locker, probably not a bad exchange. Kudos to your inexperienced opponents for having the stones to play aggressively, but on the whole you are in good shape in both Malaya and Luzon, which bodes well.
