In the AGN area, the pockets didn't hold.

In the center, the pockets were good (although with a few MP's more, mobile units near Minsk would've been isolated).

In the south, spearheads were isolated. One Panzer corps HQ was forced out of the pocket when the Panzer division it was stacked with retreated, a second HQ could stay in the pocket as due to interdiction I could no longer make the planned attack against its stack.

Losses are fine, the number of casualties from the pockets should be much lower than normal for the first few turns.

I have received turn 2 and after initial moves, the save will be send to the front commanders.

I hope they're still interested, in any case, after the delay.

After the first opening moves, at least 13 mobile units have been isolated. Contrary to the first turn, this time they won't have nearly enough fuel to compensate for it, especially the units in the south, which were isolated twice in a row.

The AGS commander missed out on pocketing the units in the Lvov/Stanislav area by 1 hex, and he'll face the consequences this turn.

Sorry I thought this whole thing had been shelved ages ago.I've got other games going now so I'll have to resign as Western front commander. There seems to be a lot of interest from people though so there shouldn't be any shortage of volunteers for the job.

Encircled: if you PM me your e-mail address, you can take over Western Front and assorted forces in that area.

Klydon: depending on whether Smokindave still wants to play, a spot might open up soon.

Senno: it's going to be murder alright, but even with spearheads being isolated, the Axis won't get stuck immediately. I don't really care what they do above the Dnepr bend as long as they don't capture Leningrad or Moscow, to me the south is where the game is won or lost.

Lol:P Well, can safely assume the AGS CO did not read this thread AGS Opening Moves That is one of the worst openings for AGS I have seen on these boards. Kudos for not 'taking it back'!!

I have to say that I'm a little disappointed with Comrade P's handling off his position as team Captain.  It's the German command which needs to play an optimal game, I don't think it was necessary for ComradeP to swoop in and maximize the Russian response as they have a lot more room for error.  I did not think it was his role was to completely take over, play this one solo and single handily defeat the opposition.  Obviously some of the Axis play was less than optimal but that may have been balanced by similar mistakes among the different Soviet commanders associated with their lack of cohesion and their differing styles of play.  For a single, skilled player to take over means that he is not playing with any of the disadvantages inherent with a shared command which I thought was the whole bread and butter of this experience.  This one is dead in the water and that's too bad, it had a lot of promise.  [:(]

Like I said: it was for only one turn, and mostly due to the limited amount of units that the front commanders would have to be able to command. It's not like I made some magic move or anything, I only cut off some spearheads and placed a checkerboard in most areas. Convenience had more to do with the way the opening was played than skill.

The Axis start with clearly defined commands/armies, the Soviets start with several overloaded fronts and plenty of STAVKA forces, so until more units unfreeze on turn 2, there isn't a lot to move for front commanders until more units are assigned to them.

If you told the other team you played the turn, and they have no objections, no issue. [:)]

It turns out the Axis team wants to move on to other things, so sadly this team game's dead, as some predicted. Let's hope the other team game continues for a longer period.
