I know it's purile, juvenile and very 'snigger' 'snigger', but I just can't get around the whole "rooting for someone/thing". I figure that is something you should really be doing yourself.
Wobbly,
I'm all for purile and the like, goodness knows. I even fancy myself a relatively facile learner in the ways of the world, whatever that's worth. But I've got no idea what you're talking about here, mate. I can only imagine what the 'rooting' term conjures up away from the North American shores-but I genuinely don't know. [&:]
Ha ha - well that is classic. In kiwi, or maybe even down-under speak, rooting is slang for something most teenage boys are attempting to achieve, and most married men no longer get.
Horizontal dance moves.
Don't know its origin, but I'm gonna guess it's phallic to do with what plants do/have.
Hmmm . . . . you guys also turned something as wholesome as 'shagging flies' into something twisted and disgusting. I'm beginning to see a pattern here.

I visit this thread to see how Cap's game is progressing and all I get is a lot of chatter that could be attributed to Cap himself....Oh, I guess I got what I wanted.

Cap's threads always seem to have some mention of getting jiggy wid it. Freud would have a field day, I'm sure.

This lot are like first year plebes at an all male prep school before the big dance. You would find sexual symbolism in a picture of an attractive babe eating a banana.
Well...maybe that isn't such a good example.

**********Plan of Action************
As he apparently means to oppose my move to the SE we will meet him in the center of town at high noon, guns blazing....maybe.
The CV task force takes two cruisers from Shoho. The transports will move SE. The carriers will move to a position NE of Guadalcanal with maximum reaction setting. If he stays in the area there will likely be a knife fight at close range will will bring his TBD's into the fight but I need to know the outcome of the fight so the transports can be saved if I lose. If he moves West he may hit my dummy TF coming down toward the Jomard Passage and waste some torps on them. If he doesnt move far enough I may get an exange at longer range. Or something completely different could happen. [:)]
There is likely to be a negligible impact from LBA and no safe recovery fields if the carriers are damaged. That is why they call it war, eh?
Coral Sea involves some considerable amount of luck...but it is fun.

Yorktown is reported sunk after 4 bomb hits and 3 torps. Lexington takes 4 bombs and 3 torps too but may still be afloat but certainly can't launch planes. Shoho has a 40 level fire and has seen better days.
At least two USN cruisers are hurt pretty bad and Australia is already sunk. I have collected all the IJN CA's to sortie SE of the Russell Is. and catch the USN stragglers or Lexington if she is still afloat. I don't think the B-25's and A-20's can stop us so we go for PM. I will try to shut down PM by air now. The APD's are going to pick up the unit on Tulagi and take Efate.

Jap cruisers don't find anything because it appears
Lexington has been given up for lost (or perhaps is desperately trying to avoid subs) and sent EAST. She ends up near Tulagi after making 3 hexes.
Shoho gets plugged by THREE torps from an S boat, all of which explode. Hmmmmm. That is some serious bad luck.
I do have surface superiority now but I am worried about how much of the assault force is swimming with the fishes. I now have 2,500 undisrupted, hotshot line infantry. Anyone think that is enough to take PM? I also wonder if anyone of the SBD's might have flown off to Noumea when their decks were ablaze? Anyone think they could do it from the vicinity Russell Is?
I will redirect some subs to try to intercept
Lexington as I need the points.

NO
ETA: But you'd better beat feet if that's what you want to do. The scenario ENDS May 15 am, you no getee any moves or actions on May 15th, so the 14th is the last day you can unload / attack, etc. That gives you 5-6 days by my accounting. Move.
ETA II: PM defenses are more stout than Noumea. You may consider your options there if your infantry is somewhat depleted. Note that it's worth 900 points to the Allied cause-might be nice to take that from them. Brisbane is worth even more (and scantily defended), but is just a *hair* too far in this scenario.
ETA III: Recalculated the AV you have left. It's likely insufficient to force the issue at PM. My apologies. I was very wrong.

I am committed to PM now as the 15 kt AK's cant make Noumea in time. (my decision when I sent NW around one of the Solomons)
I will try not to let the negative waves filter down to the 144th Regt. [:)]
Here is something you dont see very often, the mighty
Lexington successfully attacked by Petes. The bad news she is making 10-15 kts. She is evidently trying for Noumea or to just stay afloat till the end of the game. I have 2 CA's, a seaplane carrier and most of the subs looking for her.

The twin cruiser force will try to end up where the indestructible Lexington might be. There are still some viable USN cruiser somewhere near Noumea, they may make a visit.
The main cruiser force will head for PM.
