Summary

Exploration

Image

Here we can see the extent of our exploration. The yellow dots represent the systems that we explored and the grey dots represent the unexplored systems. As you can see, our empire is located in a small cluster of approximately 30 stars. All those have been explored and were nicknamed ''The small cluster'' by our exploration teams. Below this cluster we have a bigger one nicknamed ''The big cluster''. Exploration is still under way but as you can see, at least 1/3 of it as been explored. During our exploration we came into contact with 2 alien species. Details about those species can be found in the Diplomacy tab. The yellow dot very far north of our empire is a colony location given to us by pirates. As you can imagine we did not get what we paid for, since our ships do not have the energy to go there and come back.

Colonies

Image

In the picture above we can see the location of our colonies and of the known colonies of the 2 alien species we encountered thus far. Our colonies are the 3 ones with a yellow dot inside of them. The lines represent the trade lane between our empires. Below we will show you in details our colonie.

Legend:

Pink: Frozen gas giant
Orange: Volcanic planet or moon
Red: Gas giant
Blue: Ocean planet or moon
Green: Continental planet or moon
Teal: Ice planet or moon
Beige: Desert planet or moon
Grey: Asteroids, dead planet or moon
Yellow: The sun

The Zenox System

Image

This our original system. Due to it's abundance in gas giant planets and minerals, our home system was, and still is, a very good system. If we design equipement for extreme condition colonies, there's 4 planets that would be suitable (maybe not rentable) for colonization; 2 Ice moons, 1 ocean moon and 1 desert planet.

The principal gases found in our home system are: Hydrogen, Helium, Krypton, Argon and Tyderios. This diversity provides quite a benefit for our empire. The mst present metals are: Iridium, Lead, Steel and Gold. Nothing special but everything we need. There's two rare ressources found in the Zenox system: Vodkol and Terallion down.

Let's take a close look to the capital colony of our empire based on the continental planet Zenox 5.

Image

This is our starting planet, it can be seen by it's population, 12 billions, and it's GDP which amount for 94% of our entire empire revenue. The population on Zenox 5 is equivalent to approximately half or our empire population. This planet is of such importance that if we lose it it would mean the end of our empire. To protect this very important colony 3 weapons platform were built in orbit. These platforms might is quite impressive. Each as a firepower of 188 and maintain a fleet of 8 fighter ships. Since our first steps in space a medium space port was built in orbit of the planet. This space port as been the main construction hub of our empire since then.

The Xubbahn system

Image

The first colony we established was in the Zubbahn system on a continental moon. This system is quite good too. It contains a high amount of luxury ressources such as: terallion down, otandium opal, questurian skin and rephidium ale (found on the colony's planet). Gases are pretty common with a high amount of caslon. There quite a quantity of osalia mineral and there's every common metal. These luxury ressources are a great benefit for our empire.

Image

The moon was called Atui. Due to its young age, the population of the colony is very low, a mere 60 millions, and its GDP almost inexistent. Still it's community is thriving and its population steadily rising.

The Zaldix system

Image

The third and last colony of our empire is situated in the Zaldix system on the fourth planet. The particularity of this colony is the fact that a long lost population of Zenox was found already on the planet. The reunion was made peacefully since it seems our lost cousins were actually using the same governement type as our; Technocracy. The population of this planet is 800 millions. This gave such a boost to our empire's population. Apart from that, the Zaldix system is quite a basic one. It contains decent amount of gases and metals, some minerals and a few luxury ressources: jakanta ivory, vodkol, terallion down and wiconium.

Image

Due to the great distance between the first two colonies and Zaldix 4, the decision was taken to build a huge space port in orbit around the planet. This gave the population of the new colony the feeling we were actually caring about them and the infrastructure to build, refuel and refit fleet directely on Zaldix 4 instead of having our ships going back and forth to the distant Zenox 5 colony.

Economy

Image

There's nothing much to say about our economy apart from the fact that it's doing very well. As you can see on the screen we have a high surplus and a very confortable earning zone. The same can be said for the private sector. With the construction of the big space port on Zaldix 4 finished, we expect a huge augmentation of private ships and station being built in the near future. Below can be seen a summary of our ships and bases.

Image

Diplomacy

The relations with the 2 alien species we encountered thus far are quite good. Since our empire are far from each others there's no tention yet. Our diplomatic relations gave us some informations on them. They seem to have bigger empires than ours with 8 to 11 colonies each. This is one of the main reason for the increase in our military's budget. Below can be seen an example of their species visual appearances and their flags.

Image

Image

Military

Our military forces consist of 4 fleets with 17 ships in total and 12 legions of ground troops. The first fleet is the biggest with 7 ships, 2 destroyers, 4 frigates and 1 escort. It's combined power is 188. The 3 other fleets have between 3 and 4 ships, 1 destroyer, 1 frigate and 1 escort. Our 12 legions are distributed quite unevenly. 9 legions are on the capital colony of Zenox 5, 3 on Zaldix 4 and none on Atui. Below can be seen a list of our fleets with their number of ships and firepower.

Hey guys, just to tell you I just came back from a 3 months trip to europe and I am now ready to continue this aar. Unfortunately I will have to turn the aar more into a gameplay one with a lot less informations since I don't have much time to play. I'm sorry if this is bad news for some of you, but this is better than shutting it down. Expect the next update tomorrow.

The Orlox empire

2761

I build a huge fleet (5th one) to counter my quite powerful neighbors (18 colonies and 8 colonies). It has 19 ships: 4 escorts, 6 frigates, 8 destroyers and 1 transport. I aslo find a desert planet with some Teekan on it but it is very far from my colonies. It can be seen circled in blue north of my colonies.

Image

2762

Start building robots for troops. Found a new desert planet with Teekan on it too but there's a pirate base and approximately 10 pirate ships in the system. I send the newly created 5th fleet to deal with them. Here's a picture showing the 5th fleet after destroying a lone pirate's frigate near one of my gas mining station.

Image

2763

The colony ship that I sent to the northern most desert planet is too late. A human federation already colonised it. On a brighter note, my two neighbors are at war! I also found another pirate base. Here's the situation in 2763, to the south my two neighbours in tan and purple. In the middle my colonies and up north the humans in blue.

Data: yeah, I did not want to colonise this planet early on because of the distance, but now I have only 3 colonies and my neighbors have taken every possible colonies south of me and since this is sandbox mode I'm pretty much screwed if I do not find any new colonies soon.

tedesco: thank you for the kind words, I'll try to post an update today too.

I need some help, does any of you know how to change a fleet aggressivity?I just lost 2 destroyers because my ships, after destroying the target I chose for them, would stand idle while being attacked. The engagement rules are system targets but they are in ''coma''. Anyone know how to make them attack the target and then attack any ennemies in the system? I looked in the encyclopedia, the options, the empire policy and the fleet management screen but found nothing.

You can order them manually and this should override the settings but this involves micromanaging. I'll dig up a bit and come back if I find anything more useful.

ok because it is quite anoying, I thought by giving the order to attack system targets it would attack everything in that solar system, but instead they just sit there and get destroyed. Anyway thank you.

I remember a similar discussion and I'm pretty sure there are two places where you can set the stances for fleets and one overides the other but now I can't seem to find that particular thread. If the ships are not in a fleet do they behave the same way?

Guess I'll have to put them in automation when attacking a complete system and switch them to manual when they're finished. Thank you by the way for the time you took to look for this.

Np, I'm sorry I could not find the relevant info....I'm certain this has been discussed before. I'll keep looking.

have found the below in the manual

"Automated fleets set to engage system targets will prove very effective at deterring aggression,
especially if they have proximity scanners and you have a nearby base with a long range
scanner to give them some warning of approaching enemies"

It might be a silly question but at what tech level are your scanners? Maybe they don't see them...though once attacked they should react anyhow. The last part sound like your AI doesn't think it's at war with the enemy AI....though even then it should react.

Data, Harkonnen, the order is overridden if you're on manual. After you complete a manual ships mission, you MUST set them on auto mode, or they WILL sit doing nothing. Usually if I know I won't need said ships for anything afterwards, after I give them a manual order, I set them on auto - they fulfill the mission first and then go about their business, reverting to standard orders and reacting to local threats.
