Well, I own the ROTS expansion so is this new update just for the original DW or the expansion as well?

If you have Return of the Shakturi, all you need is the 1.5.0.8 update. This one will not help you. This is only for customers who did not purchase Return of the Shakturi (yet) to bring the original Distant Worlds up to date as we promised we would do. We want to keep the entry point in the series in good shape as we work on expansions since this is often the introduction for new players.

- Erik

For the original DW in case you already applied the 1.5.0.8 patch to ROTS. Check with the game updater, if you're already on the latest patch then it will report that you are up to date.

I think bug fixes are taking up a lot of dev time.  I'd love to see many new updates to make the game more complex, interesting, and much more replayable!

Stuff I'd like to see is:
Better management of trade network and economy.  Right now it's a bit meh.  I'd like more upgrades in terms of quality of planets, like able to build projects that with use of rare materials make planets more pleasant, or even terraform them!
Galactic wonders, built on planets or near them.  Like a huge space racetrack, or a giant telescope, or a galactic size antenna.
More interesting alien life, possibly more alien alien-races.

Terraforming and planet quality improvements would be nice.
