oh, yeah, you can own the sky quantity wise, especially if you got three times more fighters than the enemy but fail to get them over the target in a way you could take advantage of it and end up being outnumbered OVER THE TARGET while you´ve got a total numerical superiority on the map. And that´s exactly what the op was asking about, how does he get more fighters over the target at the same time. Go ahead and post a guide how to do that if you wish, hope it actually works in the end and helps the op.
Again: LRCAP the target with half of the squadrons. Easy. In case of closely positioned bases even simple CAP will work, as possibly happened in your example.

yeah, also LRCAP the target when the bases are 8 hexes away... just do how you like it, believe what you like, as long as ppl make me smile, I´m happy with it.

I´ve never used LRCAP to recreate BIG sweeps and back when I was still sitting in India at small airfields I did get better results spreading out my airforce than now when I´m sitting at one level 9 airfield. And IMO it would be harder to get all ac over the target when they launch from a lot of airfields at different ranges than if two or three squadrons launch from the same huge airfield.

No, for LBA the difference, at the beginning of the war, is the better exp of the Japanese pilots and the better leaders, which are positive
modifiers for coordination.

I've had four Hurricane squadrons, same mark of Hurricane even, sweeping a base in Burma for months on end. Same altitude, pilots are very competent as they've been doing it undisturbed for a long time.

I'd say they arrive over the target as a 48 block about 1 in 4 times, mostly they go in as 4 x 12s. Just looked in the last turns combat report of my Allied game to see what happened to happen yesterday. Looks like only 2 out of 4 squadrons flew, due to the bad weather maybe, but those 2 didn't arrive at the same time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morning Air attack on Myitkyina , at 64,42

Weather in hex: Severe storms

Raid spotted at 47 NM, estimated altitude 38,600 feet.
Estimated time to target is 11 minutes

Allied aircraft
Hurricane IIc Trop x 11

No Allied losses

Aircraft Attacking:
11 x Hurricane IIc Trop sweeping at 35600 feet *

Yeah, the weather is bad, but the weather is always bad in Storms in the Pacific.

I've never really tried it from multiple airbases, as I dont, to be honest, ever need massive sweeps.

Japanese have it easier because their squadrons are much bigger in size than the Allies, thats why you see big Japanese sweeps at the start of the war. The Japanese suffer from coordination issues all the time as well, in truth - this becomes more obvious when Allied CAP can handle lone Japanese squadrons, you see trains of Tojos coming in for the slaughter in penny packets in due course.

However escorting certainly works from multiple airbases, in fact too much better. I'm always mentally bitching that my T-bolts at some far flung base are always trying to escort heavy bombers, like every turn almost, attacking a distant target. Like I got some T-bolts at Woodlark Island and they are always helping heavy bombers at Munda bomb Rabaul. This is annoying because the t-bolts get fatigued for no good reason and I can't actually stand them down from alert status.
