Because of this game and a few others here at Matrix, I have become much more selective of what I purchase. This game has become shelfware for me. There are a couple of developers I won't buy from anymore because of their games not receiving the support I feel they should have. This is one of them.
Good luck with this game, as it looks better than it did for me.

Hi Larry , i think the cause of your problem is direct draw like in many other older games. You need to found a programmer who creates a directdraw wrapper for this game.
This helped me for panzergeneral 3d scorched earth and people general.
I cant give you the names of the programmers because they has no time for other projects for the moment.

I have tried this game on Win7, XP, and Vista and the text is garbage on every platform.

sTRANGE; FOR ME IT WORKS GREAT. I think its a problem of your graphiccard. A solution will need time. You should not count on help from the gamedevelopers.
When they cant make a lot of money anymore with the game the support runs to zero like in all old games, we must help ourselfes.

I've used three different graphic cards. I have spent weeks working with this game last year, I'm done.

You shouldn"t give up to fast. Not many programmers are interested to help the fan comunity of older roundbased games.
But from time to time you can found such a good soul. Here is a directdrawwrapper which can help you maybe :

Read careful the topic and put the draw dll and the configure file to your game mainfolder. For me it works good.

I had the same problem that Larry P had also with this game. Even worse in fact as the graphics were so crap for the troops on screen the game was unplayable. I tried every single one of the 'fixes' offered and none of them worked. This was a 'game breaker' for me. I haven't looked at this game in over a year but had some spare time today and decided to 'look in' to see what kind of support had been offered. Now I see. NOTHING!
I have pretty well written off Matrix Games now for anything. I have been burned too many times now. No support for "For Liberty" also. I'm out of here!

For Liberty was a real bum deal for me too. I got tired of going into menus and NOT being able to click a Cancel button if I made an error. The devs stood by the fact that Cancel buttons were not going to ever happen. Among other things too, I gave up on the game.
H&M was an entire waste of money. Can't read the text at times. My gaming habits have moved on and so I'm seldom here at Matrix anymore.
Wish I had an easy fix, but I don't. [&:]

Wished I'd read this thread before I purchased this product as I suffer from the same issues[&:] It's now approximately 4 years on from the last post on this thread and it seems nothing has been done to help those of us who have this issue.[:-]
The only consolation for me is that I bought it on sale
