I'm looking forward to your game as I expect it to be very good indeed. Could you give us a rundown?
It's amazing how this is still considered "an argument" [8|]

I am having fun with the Field of Glory: Decline and Fall beta. It is a must have for anyone interested in Belisarius or the Byzantine Empire.

Is there a lack of devs out there...
Watching Sierra, Talonsoft, and SSI get bought up, butchered up, and dismantled all around the same time definitely was not a good sign of the future... at least for high-budgeted war-games.

.. at least the man is trying and the actual game once you get beyond the UI etc and lack of AI is ambitious
So, basically you're saying that 3 years after I last took a look at it the game still has no AI and a hopeless UI.
But, he's "ambitious" - right - whew

Last time I took a look at his design he had all game-data stored in dozens and dozens of separate M$ Access tables so I would take anything he says about his programming abilities with a trainload of salt.

What is wrong in utilizing Acces as an auxiliary gateway for development before converting data records into *sql files?
I'm not talking about using an Access database during development, I'm talking about using dozens and dozens of separate Access database files for storing a good dozen records of data obviously resulting in abysmal performance . It had NOOB written all over it. Nothing wrong with that, but now I hear talk about "best AI ever" etc. Talk about running before you can even crawl.
Put data like that in text files, xml files, anything but dozens of resource-hogging real database files.

Well, he could hardly point to spelling errors in my posts
