Shiden could have been a good fighter.. if..
they took out all the fuel.. and put 2 guns on the cowling instead of 4 guns in the wings
way too slow by 1944 standards.. but the auto combat flaps were a big innovation
..also if they had 100 octane fuel it would have helped
but it looks pretty cool... really cool [8D]

amazing that a seaplane could reach 440 mph at sea level at a time
when retractable gear fighters only reached 300 mph [:)]

would have replaced the floats with some guns..
service rating 5? no problem
440mph fighter in Regia Aeronautica in 1939... that's what they needed to overcome the RAF in the meditteranean

yeah, the bits that make them fly.
A good idea so that a few more fuselages can be put on display rather than lots of space taken up by the wings!!

We have in Everett, Washington the nose section of a Lancaster on display. Its nice...but missing the rest of the aircraft....its a sorry sight. Not so good an idea. Just makes me want to see the whole intact beauty.

Wow...that really looks like a P-47 rip-off. Capable-looking aircraft.
And yet it was acutally developed from a float plane with mid-fuselage wings, the Kawanishi N1K Kyofu (allied codename: Rex).
