The toughest sector and part of a turn this game I've had so far in AGC. MP's were low (11-18 for each Panzer/Mtr Div)
Do you air supply your Pzr/Mot spearheads with fuel at the end of each turn?
Step 5 in the MP calc:
Determine if fuel (motorized unit) or supplies (non-motorized unit) is sufficient to enable the unit to use the remaining MPs it has. For example, if a motorized unit has only 50 percent of its base MPs remaining after steps 1 through 4, it will only require 50 percent of fuel needed. If fuel on hand is 60 percent of what the unit needs to use its remaining MPs, then it can only move 60 percent of those MPs, rounded down.

Of course. I'm not a newbie [;)]

Looks like the Soviet opponenet knows his stuff. So do you. Pelton's and Q-Ball's big emphasis is on getting the infantry moving fast and far. I think your're slow in the north, ok in the center (though I think you need to have more aimed at Smolensk, but i love how you forced the Panzers into the Vitebsk/Smolensk gap) ) and ok in the south.

Hi Hitman,
Interesting analysis. Infantry are they key for opening holes and smashing the SU.
I see the overview differently. I'm happy enough with AGN. At present it seems Walloc is defending far forward with no troops digging in on the Luga and little except immediately around LG = good for me.
AGC - Am not happy here at all. Fuel and supply were stalled due to pocket cleaning and broken rails. It's too static. I need to get my ar*e in gear next week and hope my units have enough MP's.
AGS - I'm ok with progress down here. The key will be when and where I cross the Dnepr.

That's exactly why I don't like committing much to AGC early. The Panzers will stall at the Dnepr line, and air drops aren't enough to make up the difference. The problem is that the supply trace up there is through all those Light Woods, which really slows it down. You can't make a ton of progress until 4th and 9th Armies catch-up, and the railhead is closer to the front.
I personally like what JAM did to me: Commit an extra Panzer Corps from Pz Gp 3 in AGN, and shift them south after breaking the Luga line in turn 7 or 8. By then, you should have a railhead close to the Luga, and you can rail those guys to Vitebsk. By then, AGC is in much better shape from a fuel supply standpoint and can make hay.
The extra Panzer Corps from Pz Gp 2 can make the drive on Moscow, after crossing the Dnepr south of the Pripet.
I just think AGN and AGS have the best supply situations early, take advantage of that

I humbly submit to youalls (excuse my southern heritage) thoughts on AGC. But in AGN, 6-10 infantry can be across the Daugava on turn two, 7-8 hexes from Pskov on turn 3 (if the Russians screen Pskov on turn 3 it just adds to the causualties without benefits, I believe) and hitting the town hard on turn 4. The AGC stuff has been my MO against the computer to crash Moscow and it is kinda crude (ie. dumb.) Also in AGN its a BIGGGG mistake (in my opinion) to focus any significant effort west of Lake Pskov. It's off no benefit (the Soviets would love to have Leningrad attacked from the west) and every infantry Corp is needed to pound the way open to the Pz XXXX and LI down the Pskov/Leningrad path. But I know that I'm a noobie .

I agree it's a waste of time putting a lot west of Pskov towards Tallinn. I generally send a Corps up there to secure the Ports from rear area SU landings, to occupy Tallinn and to force the SU to keep some units guarding the Luga axis.

LOL. Never been there but thought it was good inspiration for my men. Like when you punch someone you aim and visualise a few inches beyond where you want to hit to get maximum effect [;)]

Turn 5.
AGN - smashed through the Soviet defences, dislocated 3 airbases and neared the Luga. Few Soviets on the Luga (except a few spotted in the swamps).

As an FYI here's the recon view of LG:

AGC - injected a little bit of momentum again but disappointingly I was not able to create the pocket I wanted. Walloc is placing his units well in good stacks in the right terrain with the right spacing.

AGS - dissapointing here too. Only had about 20ish MP's in the armoured units due to the distance to rail heads. Walloc has also placed good stacks in the right places.

T6 end.
Finland - 2 SU Divisions are doomed and I hope to snag a couple more in the morth by using the Cav Bde to good effect next week.

AGN -
Walloc regrouped well up here and has done well throughout in placing strong mixed stacks (Rifle/MTR/ARM) in good defensive terrain. A couple of stacks were pushed back by LVI and XXXI on the eastern end of the Luga line. As things stand it's likely I'll go for the ports on the coast of Ladoga but we'll see how the defences pan out.

AGC -
Once more Walloc placed units in stacks in good defensive terrain in a well thought out Checkerboard system. As such I only managed to cut off 5 Divisions but I did penetrate a Dnepr Tributary. The 'good' thing is that Walloc is now slightly more on the move and a bulge can potentially be cut off to the north (Vitebsk) or to the South depending on what Walloc does in his turn. Between Smolensk and Moscow there's just one more river barrier blockign my path. I really want and need to capture more Soviets though.....
