As you can see, Rangoon is about to fall.

1/21/42 I'm having a lot of trouble in China. I'm running out of ideas as to what to do. I have one possibility left, raise a couple of battalions of Giant Chinese Salamanders to defend Sian and Changsha. I've included pictures of a couple of specimens. If anyone knows how, within the game, I might raise these battalions, please advise. I am aware that there is a Giant Japanese Salamander, but theirs are smaller.
And no, the fellow in the pic on the left is not into bestiality, despite appearances.

Here's a screen grab from yesterday. Raiden simultaneously landed troops at Ndeni, Luganville and Efate. Between Anatom and Noumea you can see a carrier force consisting of either three CVs or two CVs and a CVL supporting. He apparently did not expect a garrison at Luganville, as he landed a AA bn and a construction eng bn along with a small (and insufficient) Naval Guard reg. In practice, I would not initially land non-combat engineers (excluding shore parties) even if I knew the place was undefended as you will incur some casualties even though there is no hostile force of note present. Granted these casualties will be mostly disabled stuff, thus quickly recoverable, but still. The garrison is an understrength Aussie brig. which counterattacked the next day with little effect and low casualties on both sides.

Some of you may think those salamanders do not look very intimidating, but I assure you, when trained properly they can be quite vicious. If you've ever seen someone gummed to death by an octogenarian, you know what I'm talking about. While distant relatives of myself, unlike higher beings they do not understand mercy, but they do understand swiftness. And no, I do not mean that in the sense of retreating Frenchmen.

Insufficient forces are common in my landings so far it seems. Actual issue was piss poor stevedoring at Rabaul.

I think the salamanders would serve your purpose just by feeding your Chinese troops! It may be hard for a Gorn to watch, though, so just throw them on the table and go to another room/camp.

Good slave labour is so hard to come by these days, especially when you bayonet half the healthy males just to show how serious you are ...[:(]

Well, at least their incompetance lowered your carbon footprint.

Yes, I have a special room where I do things no one else knows about. Sometimes it involves a fish scaler. Sometimes I have to grow a new tail, because a predator grabbed my old one. Mind you, it didn't grab my tail because I was retreating, rather because I advance with my rear echelon.

Yes, funny guys, let me save you the trouble. Fish scaler?!? [X(]
I am severely disappointed with the number of hits this AAR is receiving. Perhaps I should rename the thread "The taciturn Admiral". How about "The flip-flops of the Fisherman"? "The perfect Gorn"? I need some feedback here.

Funny. Harsh, but funny. For those who aren't French, anyway...
On the AAR hits, I wouldn't worry much about it. There are several dozen ongoing AARs, and only so much time in between turns. People will read, or
they won't. Or it'll take them a while to wander by, then they'll catch up on a lot of posts at once. Write it for the fun of doing so, or to antagonize your
worthy opponent (you guys seem to be having a good time even if you
don't think anyone's reading along), but I wouldn't get too caught up in
subscription numbers - they don't mean much in the grand scheme of things.
Gotta run now - time to go check my hit count vs Ctangus...[:'(] (I assume I'm well behind both of you. Alas!)

Joint AARs don't lend themselves to the discussion of plans and tactics, so I think a lot of lurkers who are looking for ideas to improve their games may not bother with this one. Either that, or your avatar's cold dead-looking eyes and sharp teeth remind them too much of political debates ...[;)]

You would assume everyone would be drawn to my sexy japanese airplane though.[:D] True enough on the nature of joint AAR's, I'ld post more combat reports and such, but the allies have enough of an intelligence advantage as it is. The sub war has turned around recently, my subs are returning from patrols, his are taking full advantage of the reduced asw and using the emergency supply of working torps, he doesn't seem to get many duds at all. Im am noticing the lack of support, it is the main hold up on the advance since the Gornster is only now starting to fight. Also explains the sorry Jap CB's in the landing force, even they will get the AF built by the time a base unit is available. I may start a mini thread to go over the economy, it's been a while since I was japan.

Here is the message I received with the last turn:
I hope PoW has carrier support.
I will have to illustrate what he's referring to:
The arrow to the north is pointing out his mini KB. The other arrow points to a TF one of his subs attempted a torpedo attack against. That sub identified the Prince of Wales as its target. It seems a rather strange thing for him to hope for, but I will try and be equally magnanimous in hoping that he has oilers with him. Otherwise it's like the cat tempting the dog just beyond the length of its chain.
We can only wonder what he wishes the PoW to do with carrier support. However, I would like to pass on from the Dutch a request that he attack Batavia some more.

I must bring up a subject which Raiden may be very sensitive about. He's been sending out submarines to verify that my major ports are protected by minefields by going there and bumping into them. I sincerely hope that he is now satisfied that this is so, so that my fishermen no longer have to rescue his crews floating about in my harbors.

If I must build midget subs, I will clear minefields with midget subs.[:D] I will say that my combat report for that attack did not look quite so bad.

Raiden was slightly perturbed by the following:
If I understand correctly, he says one of his brigades just sat on its hands, while the other did the attacking. I don't know if that is reflected in the "attacking force" numbers or not. In any case, this is like one case in ten while the other nine are my units getting their asses handed to them.
