Lord Zimoa, do you really think that user reviews like this, many of which make absolutely no sense, encourage people not to buy the game, when editor reviews might rate this game an 8-8.5? Do you also really think that potential customers believe that 11 reviews out of 27 on Metacritic that rate Panzer Corps a 10 are in any way an accurate representation of the game? If that's the case, then Call of Duty Black Ops II sales would have been terrible. [:D]

Trust me, most customers are way smarter than you think. [;)]

Hey - maybe this guy is your first suspect. Do you not think it a bit suspicious he joins a couple of days ago to start bitching about what ian asked. A PERSON OF INTEREST if you ask me. There would be a clue in his user name I would think

Yes, the guy is suspect at the very least.

Just had an idea.

Rather than give out a reward or bounty for the "fake" reviewers, maybe we could set up an awards program for registered customers.

For each positive review a customer writes at Metacritic, you will be awarded bonus points toward a free game. [:D]

Qui?

Probably not a good idea, giving payment in whatever form for a positive review wipes out any credibility the review might have had and soliciting positive reviews with the promise of payment would strike me as rather unethical to say the least.

Correct! [:D]

Or are reviews or the scoring of said reviews just advertising. Lots of commentary on page 1 hinting that reviews are just advertising.

So I am going to use the word "advertising" instead of the word "reviews". So which of these seems unethical to everyone.

a. Soliciting positive advertising from on-line communities or on-line magazines with the promise of payment or like exchanges.

b. Soliciting information from on-line communities about the sources of negative advertising with the promise of payment.

c. Soliciting positive or negative advertising from any person or agency without the promise of payment or like exchanges.

Are you blokes sure that Metacritic hasn't linked this games account with some other game and everything hasn't gotten all jumbled together? The release date and the reviews point to a different game, probably some half baked German RPG.

Just being honest here, I really, really cannot see anyone going to these lengths over such a small niche game like this. I advise looking for another reason here, unless my spidey senses are totally out of whack.

Hmnn.. that's a mighty suspicious post. You might be laying a smoke screen. Another name for my "person of interest" bounty list! [;)]

Here's another suspect, trying to blame everyone else.

I would humbly suggest to Matrix, dont encourage anyone to post reviews anywhere, as mentioned those sites have lost credibility.

Encourage players to post on these forums, show what the game is about, allow players to talk over the high and low points and in those too few cases, the support which is given to further the games.

OMG! I'm on Rocko's LIST. [:D]

Actually, I do know who did it. I have taken their signed confession. I will turn over this confession (hope its not fake), after Slitherene deposits the reward into my personal account. (no fake checks please).

We'd love people to come to the site to read reviews but they don't. They go to metacritic.

While we live in that world we have to take action when a deliberate and criminal attack is made on one of our games via this site.

The overdrive review is exactly the problem the original attack was intended to create - doubt and confusion. The problem is its hard to tell now if this is a real person or another fake account. We need everyone to be aware of what actually happened so they can take this in to account when reading the reviews.

Our job is to protect the development team as much as possible. It is a great game and deserves great success.

Its sad to see someone doing things like this to small developers.

I would however advice you against linking directly to these sites, cause it will lead to them getting "link juice" and more pagerank on Google. This can also lead to these usernames getting a higher score on Metacritics, since they have a system to know what kind of in-links they get. Especially when people and bots are clicking on them.

I am buying this game now, just to support the company.
