Thorgrim: are you out to get me thorgrim? because every thread ive looked at so far today has you criticizing me and sounding fairly rude

WFF: dont take it personaly, but he(as i) is prolly a person that dislikes people that believe in things wich one knows to be wrong, and seems to think "this is the truth" when in fact you are wrong, and no, i dont apply this thinking to religion, since there are no real proof, there can be no sure right or wrong.
so basicly, what we both are trying to do, is educate you, prehaps not succeding, but that's another matter.

ya know what guys? if your trying to tell me differently against something that i already have working you can stop right now because when something works for me I STICK TO IT and frankly my 2 titan team works really well! mabey the shotgun can't take on 2 other titans like thorgrim keeps suggesting but hey its designed to get in there deliver its payload in 2-4 volleys and get out if YOU guys can't use it then jsut say so! because frankly I can use it and it WORKS FINE for me!

WFF: and just so you know it, my only succesful titan design, the fireblade, (70t CC/flamer) does fairly well 1on1, but cant take on more, and in group it tends to get kicked due to short range.

yeah well the shotgun is used like a shotgu nget in fire 1 or 2 shots get out but thorgrim seems to think that it MUST be able to stay in the firefight for the entire battle
EDIT: and its always partnered with a cc titan as well

WFF: that might be because in most cases that's what you have to do, cause you dont have any other choice, get away? heck turning around and moving a single hex(or walking backward) in a wooded area....lesse min. 20 secs? prolly closer to 30, during that time how many volleys of my weapons can hit you? that's free potshots, since you cant shoot back...although if i remember your design correctly, it was a dual ac20 type, yes? in that case you prolly go with taking'im out quick as can do, and then moving away, wich is a good idea.

Yes. I wasn't saying you were wrong, on the contrary, I was telling you that the Map Editor already has that covered.

thorgrim: may the back slapping stop NOW!, i will not have another post dedicated to show that the other made a good post several posts back.
but for more informative thing, dual layered maps would be useful, when previous recon, and current map do not quite add up, wich in effect is a fog of war that looks like a map....abit trickier to implement, but could be useful on certain types of missions.

??!! Back slapping?! You will not have?!
Hey buster, if my post was way back there that's because I have limited access right now, so I reply whenever I can, not when it suits you. Ok? So get that attitude of yours and shove it.
Jeez, what did I say now?

thorgrim: i was not saying something about the frequency of your reply, nor actualy content, just that we both had waltz'd around trying to compliment eachother without overtly doing so a few posts, wich is what back slapping is, telling each other how good we really are.
but, what do you think about dual map layers(see previous post by me.)? personaly i think it could be a nifty thing for mil campaign mission.

I wasn't complimenting anyone, and I wasn't attacking anyone either. I wasn't waltzing around anything, when I have something to say I say it. Everyone knows that. Where I come from back slapping has another meaning.
Now, about dual layered maps, depends on what you mean. Right now battle gives you 2 ways to look at a map. The standard 2D, and the 3D, which you can rotate and heighten/flatten.

thorgrim: was thinking about 'coloring' the fog of war, to give the impression of recon, and that you would not know something was different until you see it so to say, would give you the general layout of the map, but leaving out the new millitary outpost that was supposed to be around here somewhere....
just a idea, and should not be THAT difficult to do....

You can rotate AND heighten/flatten?
*drools over keyboard, ruining it AGAIN!*
This is going to be sooo cool! I was wondering about the sound as well as the visuals - Are the sonics going to be boosted for Warring Suns?
Full Stereo or Surround sound would be cool, as well as some meatier sound effects for some weapons (in particular, the Heavy Meson and Power Axe need to sound much sexier!)
Also, is there more music this time? The tune that comes with ToS is pretty cool, but I get tired of it sometimes. There's times when I wish I could just turn it off and blast something that suits my mood better.

There will be more music, and the sound effects are very much approved. Henrik and team are doing a great job. The new special effects are going to be great as well.

Well.... There IS a way to alter the in game music....
Larkin? How does one do that? I was sure there was a way.

in 1.4 you could just replace the tune2.mod file. e.g. convert your favorite song into .mod, rename it tune2, and paste it over the one in the folder. viola! new battle tune.
or if you want you can just turn the music off. the config file is for that (forgot the name of the file tho).

To tell you the truth, I don't see the need for it. If you think of your squad as a merc unit that is hired to assault other planets, you'll probably not have that much recon anyway. In defend type missions, yes, but that's what's the map editor is for. Like I said, the ME has a way to reveal the entire battlefield.
If you want on-site recon, then take one of your titans, go up a mountain, jump to jump level 2 and chances are you'll get the full landscape. Remember to have a good scanner, and link everybody to that titan.
The ME also has a new feature that is airdrops for players. No, don't get your hopes up, it's a "controlled" airdrop

You simply name the place where you want your titans to drop.
About sound, there's a boatload of tunes, at least 7, and they are VERY cool! The sound fx were redone also, computer voices now have 2 versions, a male voice and a female voice. All weapons have 2 distinct sounds each. There's a few more voices for some events. You better buy a truckload of those keyboards, Korg

And the sprites. Oh the new sprites! THEY ROCK!
