One thing I notice that is repeated on all the review sites: "pro" reviews give it moderate to high marks, actual users are rating it extremely low. Some of it is surely anger that they can't actually play a game they payed for, but some if it is legitimate issues.

Isn't there some natural law which goes like.

"He who pays the most for adverts on reviewing sites gets the best reviews"

Seem to remember someone getting sacked/resigning from Gamespot a few years back over a negative review of a game that had bought a banner advert. Here it is

Gerstmann had given the game a negative review[10] while Eidos had Kane & Lynch: Dead Men advertising on the website. Both GameSpot and their parent company CNET Networks stated that his dismissal was unrelated to the review.[10] In what was labelled as the 'GameSpot Exodus' by Joystiq, Alex Navarro, Ryan Davis, Brad Shoemaker and Vinny Caravella all left GameSpot. Davis announced his departure from GameSpot in February 2008, citing Gerstmann's firing as one of his reasons for leaving.[11]

If you buy into this stuff you're only supporting the end of PC gaming as we know it. Just remember when we are forced to do something we are no longer free. It is you the consumer who creates this force. Don't goto the dark side. Then again saying this to a handful of forumites is really going to change the world. [:'(]

SimCity 5 now works great and now is problem free. I can see there is a huge lack of understanding on how widespread and how flawlessly the on-line games work.

Simcity would be the sort of game I like to take on the road when I travel for some casual unwinding time.
That pretty much means no or at least spotty connectivity.

Always on DRM/connection is an immediate no no for me for just this reason.

There was an article on CNN earlier today looking at this, claiming it was going to soon be a Business Management class example on how badly things can go wrong, pointing at management interference. Interesting enough I can't find that story this afternoon, so believe or not as you will. In any event, having been completly burned by SOE's NGE, there is nothing in my heart but distrust for corporate games. This just adds to the feeling of distrust.

I will say, even with some bumps, I have never had a major problem with a game purchased from Matrix. Game problems, yes. That''s to be expected. But nothing anywhere close tothis kind of scale.

I will say, even with some bumps, I have never had a major problem with a game purchased from Matrix. Game problems, yes. That''s to be expected. But nothing anywhere close tothis kind of scale.

And the bumps are usually minor. Not to mention many of the titles here have great ongoing support as well.

I'm not going to buy Sim City 5 as long as the game will be Always Online or until some decent crack will be available.
