How much too small is Manila's repair yard? How bad is Kaga's damage? It might be safer/faster to let the yard at Manila increase than to send her across the sea...

IIRC, Manila's SY is small, as little as 10K tons.

This is RA with extended map, so numbers may differ from stock. Right now Manila's repair SY is 15, being repaired to 20. CV Kaga has 21 sys damage and 25 major flot damage. Will take 29 days to repair sys damage at pierside. Shipyard repair is shown as X, but not sure if larger SY (say 25) would allow flot damage to be fixed at Manila. I'll recheck this in 5 days when the shipyard is repaired to 20, then decide whether to go to 25 or higher. In any event I won't try to move the ship for at least 20 days, probably 29.

Allies got a great sequence of attacks, with the Swordfish and Vildebeest torpedo bombers coming in the 5th and 6th waves, after the small CAP from the carriers had recovered. He also must have gotten some good intel on the landings, as Batavia now has a small force defending, and the troops have moved to Djokjakarta, Madieon, and Soerabaja.

This is RA with extended map, so numbers may differ from stock. Right now Manila's repair SY is 15, being repaired to 20. CV Kaga has 21 sys damage and 25 major flot damage. Will take 29 days to repair sys damage at pierside. Shipyard repair is shown as X, but not sure if larger SY (say 25) would allow flot damage to be fixed at Manila. I'll recheck this in 5 days when the shipyard is repaired to 20, then decide whether to go to 25 or higher. In any event I won't try to move the ship for at least 20 days, probably 29.

Kaga is 38,200. I think I'll fix what I can at Manila, then with 0 sys and 25 flot there should be no problem getting her to Hong Kong. And I save 19,000 supply that can be more profitably used for other purposes. Thanks for the ship size - repair yard correlation - yet another thing I didn't know.

I like it, the best feature in my view is stacking limits for all land hexes. That changes everything, especially in China. Can't wait to see what you have in store in RA 6.0 !

With 3 CV's (Hiryu, Soryu, Junyo) and CVL Nisshin near Attu and the Warspite TF well to the east, the CV's will run east, but north of Adak and again sweep the airfield, to be followed by a small aerial resupply by Mavis-L from Amchitka. If Warspite turns back toward Adak the carriers will be in position to pound her on the 15th. Our BB's will cover another small transport TF setting up for a run to Adak on the 15th if possible.

Several days of recon of the west end of Java show Merak, Buitenzorg, and Kalidjati to be undefended, while 2 units defend Batavia and an armored unit defends Bandoeng. 1 Raid Rgt will jump into Buitenzorg on the 14th, followed by 2 Raid Rgt on the 15th or 16th, depending on airlift at Palembang. Units already loaded on transports intended to support the Java operation will gather at Billiton to await escort south.

Timor is the next target in the DEI, with landings at Dili and Koepang. 8 Div is on transports 1 day north of Ambon and will land at Dili within the next week after picking up artillery support at Ambon. Supporting surface forces are enroute from Java, along with a carrier TF (Agaki, Shokaku, Zuikaku, Ryujo, and Zuiho). 1 Div and 16 Div are at Ambon and will load transports for Koepang soon, landing there about 2 days after the landings at Dili.

Back on Java, 18 Div will arrive at Batavia on 21 Mar and should capture the place within a few days. 5 Div will arrive at Madioen on 22 Mar, followed by 38 Div. After capturing Madioen they will proceed, along with 56 Div at Tjepoe, to Soerabaja. Allied defenders there have started moving from Soerabaja to the mountain terrain at Malang.

Yamato AA inflicts no damage on attacking aircraft! BB Yamato will head to Victoria Point, along with a large gathering of other surface combatants and transports; then she’ll head for Singapore for temporary repairs and a new commander(?). I’ll let my opponent think she’s out of action for a very long time, she may be for all I know. Squadrons of Betty’s and Nell’s are transferring to Tavoy (22 Air HQ is here) and Victoria Point to persuade the CV to stay west of Port Blair. Transports bound for Sabang are loading at Moulmein and should depart there within a day or two; don’t want CV interference with that. A deliberate attack at Port Blair ordered for 31 Mar 42 should capture the base; aviation support is already there and if the airfield is not too damaged from my bombing, Zeroes and/or Oscars will be stationed there immediately. Several submarines operating around Port Blair change patrol zones to intercept and sink the Brit CV.

On the production front, Ha-35 aircraft are building at 510 per month and will expand to 560 per month during April. Current inventory is 426; expected usage in April is 525 (with Thalia production turned off and Rufe production set to begin 1 Apr 42). Usage will increase by 120 in May when Zero A6M3b and Nick Ki-45-KAIa production begins. This may be partially offset by stopping some A6M2 production when (if) the inventory gets over 120 (now 87).

Future Operations

Burma

After the Java operation is completed, 25 Army (5 Div, 18 Div, 56 Div, Imperial Guard Div, 1 Tk Rgt, 2 Tk Rgt, and 14 Tk Rgt) will be tasked with capturing Rangoon followed by the oil fields farther north. 15 Army (33 Div, 55 Div units, 4 Div) will assist. Elements of 55 Div are at Sabang and Port Blair; 4 Div brigades are closing in on Sabang. The graphic shows the concept; more detailed planning is required to ensure there is enough sealift to deliver these units simultaneously. Without the early war amphib bonus it will take several days to unload, so carrier and surface force protection of the amphib TF’s will be required for some time. These units will not be fully prepped for these assault landings, since that would require the operation be delayed until August '42.

Because Malang is mountainous terrain, the stacking limit is 30k. I was considering an amphibious envelopment to land at the east end of Java (Banjoewangi) with a division and tank regiment. But Banjoewangi is open terrain, so not easy to defend, with major roads into it, allowing only 4 days to unload before Allied troops could arrive from Loemadjang, where there are currently 19 units. I’ve dismissed this operation as not worth the risk. Instead I’ll continue to bombard Malang with battleships until the infantry is rested (only one reinforced division is at Malang while the others rest at Soerabaja). But first the BB’s pay a visit to Probolinggo east of Malang, while cruisers shell Loemadjang southeast of Malang. When ready, all the infantry and tanks available will overstack at Malang for one final push. The forts are at 1, which he has been unable to imcrease as his engineers are busy fixing airfield and port damage from the battleships.
