That guy leaning over the plotting table on the "Setting Sail!" screen is actually the father of one of the makers of AE - nice little homage.

I always figured that guy had a certain "cool" factor. Nonchalantly wearing his shades below decks.

I always figured that guy had a certain "cool" factor. Nonchalantly wearing his shades below decks.
Could have been hypersensitivity to light, or just trying to minimize light to improve night vision. The Japanese kept their night lookouts in a dark room for most of the day.
