I have had a PBEM going from the original WITP for over six years now. It is Feb '45 in game, and as Japan I am still hanging tough.

Best game out there.

Feltan

Actually, AE is easier to learn that WITE, because there's no futzing around with "Air Doctrine" and "Air Base Units" and other nonsense.

Better find your nearest AE Anonymous chapter before buying. I have been going faithfully for the last seven years. Its the only reason I have any of my brain left to do other things.

Isn't this forum the AE Anonymous group?

Oh so true....

As a "plank holder" who got his copy of WITP at Origins in 2005, it has been without question the one game I have spent the most hours on and enjoyed the most. True I went from WitP to AE, but it is not just a game, but a game with soul. Soul derived from the forum and PBEM give this game a life like no other.

My PBEMs in UV, WitP and AE have been without match in any other game (AGEOD's AACW/ is a close second)

Aren't they one and the same?

No.

The AE Analysis Group are the ones that are still in denial and cannot get past the first step. The Analysis group's motto is 'I'm not an addict, I'm analysing' [:D]. But I can easily see how people can confuse the two [:)]

Currently playing War in the East against an opponent. We are looking for a new game as WITE seems to have run it's course. Is War in the Pacific worth buying.

Thanks,
Wes
WITP never runs it's course.

This game is worth every penny, pence, €cent, $cent, yen or whatever ...
In terms of cost per time ratio, I think it is almost for free [:D]
I've been around here since Uncommon Valor days and I am still here. How many years that is?

Yes.

The game can be a simple computer wargame and is well worth the price at that level.

The game can also be a tool when used appropriately. In that sense it is priceless.

Just kidding, Roger, but I have not purchased another game for myself since 2006, other than AE when it was released. [&o]

Was it in 2005 ? Seems much longer. My first and only trip to Origins. Ran in, bought 5 copies, ran home to express ship out 4 of them before work :)

I got my copy of WitP at Origins 2005 also. A very nice guy named Mogami talked with me for 1/2 an hour about how it improved the DOS based "Pacific War". I looked at it for maybe 10 min there and bought it. Haven't looked back.

Thanks to rjopel, he introduced me to WitP:AE later at another later Origins, and when I got home, ordered it since Matrix wasn't there that time.

It is truly the best money you can spend on gaming. You won't be spending any more on games, but research material, that is another story... [8D]

I'm fairly new to WITPAE after having played the old DOS version, PACWAR and the Matrix Edition, for many years. If you have the time to invest, this is the most in-depth wargame, I think, you will ever find. It is incredibly detailed and comprehensive. Worth every penny and more.
