Turn 6 : While snow sets in and limits movement,view and combat values, the Germans are closing in and conquer the first suburb of Moscow! The situation at the start of the turn:

We could repel the Panzerdivision in the North.

An incautious artillery unit advanced right into our defenses in the south.

Its the hour of the artillery. If they can slow down the advance there is a chance for victory. The first strike wears down another infantry unit.

Next we could destroy the remnants of a recon unit.

Last but not least we deal a somewhat lucky punch against the Panzerdivision in the North and destroy two strength points. We expected one at the most.

Our last move is to reinforce units at critical places.

Losses are slowly piling up.

Turn 7 brings stinging defeats and heavy losses for both sides. But lets have a look at the situation at the beginning of the Soviet turn first:

In the north the Germans attack everywhere and get nowhere. Their infantry divisions are only shadows of what they used to be.

The southern part of Moscow is about to be lost if we cannot turn the tide soon. The Germans slowly approach our main defense line.

Deep in the south German units are still struggling to get to the main battle.

The 7. Panzerdivision will face a hard time. Our first move is an artillery attack.

Next we start an attack with IL-2 ground attack aircraft that get a high bonus because adjacent friendly ground units coordinate the attack.

Our 19. Tank Brigade is almost at full strength and is able to eleminate the remnants of the 106. Infanterie Division.

An artillery bombardement causes heavy casualties for the 35. Infantry Division.

The 136. Rifle Division is taking care of the rest.

In the southern part of Moscow we bombard the intruder with great success.

Now we will take care of the Luftwaffe. Air superiority was even with some slight advantages for us. But the attacks on the city took its tolls and now our airforce is getting the upper hand. Our AA guns are weakening the enemy.
