I relish the thought of designing new titans. I used to think I had something of a knack for it. I will especially enjoy bringing my beloved child Fist up to WS standards. Vibraa claw might find it's way onboard. :)

Ah, the good old Fist. I remember many a vicious battle against that friendly critter. :-)

(contemplates the concept of a Fist with Vibra-Claws)

If you did create a Fist with vibra claws, would you change it's name to "Claw"?

I don't know about that. To me, the obvious variation would be Fist F**ker :)

Not all, some. You'll have to do some tweaking. The worst cases will be the A4 chassis, which will probably be badly overweight. But try to see this as another challenge, rebuilding your titans (IMO this is as much fun as duking it out in the battlefield) ;)

I allways thought it was strange that the heaviest chassis is also the fastest.

This seems to be something that keeps popping up :)
Nope, the heaviest chassis simply has stronger actuators, so it is actually faster. That's why it is heavier.

And no, this has not changed in WS :)

And it also has a handling penalty, because it's the heaviest and fastest. That's where the balance comes in with lighter chassis.

I try to avoid the chassis' with penalties when designing. It helps in the long run. Well technically anyway.... :)

I actually usually pick the heaviest chassis unless I have a specific reason to pick one of the other ones. The extra speed and the extra slots win out most of the time.

I pesonally hate being knocked down SO much that i go for no penalty, screw the extra slots/speed. Either way it's well balanced.

I seem to be one of the few, odd people that actually doesn't really like close combat. I prefer my enemies to be dead long before they get in range of an axe or a fist. That way, being knocked down isn't as devastating. (Usually, unless you're playing Hetzer. :-) )

I think of giving power axe and chainsaw a damage bonus while wielded by non recon titans. Something that will make them interesting for bigger titans instead of their plain punch ability. Oppinions ?

Good idea. Perhaps the damage caused by melle waepons should grow with the size of the titan. Just like punches&kicks.

O.k., I've played Titans for two years now (not online; I'm a sore loser), and I've avoided commenting, so here goes.

How about a larger class of engine, that would boost speed? The engine could sacrifice weight or spaces (or both) as a counterbalance. It would make for an interesting, fast, close-combat Heavy or Assault Titan. Something to really fear closing with. And the Light and Medium titans would move like quicksilver... if the engine fit in their chassis.

Plus, I'd up the damage on axes and chainsaws. +2-5 each.

I just love a good melee.

Oops!

P.S. The idea of greater damage from melee weapons for larger titans sounds good.

Melee weapons

It would be nice! It is quite reasonable that a larger titan can wield a larger melee weapon, rather like a bigger man can wield a bigger sword. Maybe it would be slower... but the idea is nice.
Even if csaws and bx already have the advantage that you don't damage your titan in cc.

what i would love (although this may sound semi stupid) would be something like a shield and rapier for close combat the rapier doing slighter outside damage but piercing the armor more easily to hit internals for good amnounts (like 7 or 8 damage) and a shield to help ward off the chance for an enemy's weapon to hit or if it does to work like a dcs reduction if it hits the shield arm

either that or just a really really really big hamer to whack an enemy titan around with (tons of damage but slow and requiring both arms)

P.S. stupid question: the titans are all like bipedal humanoid in shape right? or are they like the mechwarrior hunched over walking platforms with inverted (i think inverted is the word either that or reversed) legs?
