We just got a new closed beta were this bug should have been fixed. We will test this over the weekend. We got confirmation that this happened because of Netplay bugs Steve is fixing.

As Steve fixes Netplay bugs, we will have to be on the lookout for regression in Solitair it seems. That is new info for us. Steve is already telling us where to test as he is fixing parts of netplay, so the testing process has improved (for those interested)

Can we stop this bickering please? Than Zartacla can continue his interesting AAR, and Dabrion can continue sulking in Berlin trying to reengineer the river drawing engine of MWiF. Much more fitting his great intellect than trying to let some of us report him for unfair behaviour.

If we continue this bickering, Crusss will enter this fray as well...

If you really dig deep in some of the files you can also find the name and email of the artist himself. I have already been in contact with him on the form colour in the KiF mod (which can only be changed by Steve as it needs a recompile).

With your intellectual capability you should be able to find that name in 10 minutes....

I can't, really. As soon as I started moving into Russia on the last turn, the game speed took a mighty hit. 10 seconds to move each unit, give or take, which is more than I'm willing to deal with. Although supply recalc time is a problem in every game, the addition of so many minor country units and active territory/supply sources in my fantastical game really compounded the issue.

I did some testing on NetPlay today and in Barb, the Germans and Italians DOW'd Russia three times in a row! (just in case Stalin didn't get the message, I suppose[:)]) Not a biggee in that scenario but very likely a similar problem to what led to the extra entry chits being drawn. We had a save from after Set-up and after reloading that, there was only one set of DoWs. This tells me the workaround for this bug is simple enough - find an auto-save from somewhere just prior to the DoW phase and reload from there.

When I first read the bug report here, I'm thinking how the heck can a regression bug like this emerge from the fixes in the release notes? It's actually reassuring to know there's a far more likely reason this was hit in the public BETA.

That is a pity. I found it very interesting. Hope you start an AAR on a different strategy as you write really good. And I much prefer to read AAR's than the stuff above.

My price is that you stop with your negative postings. You can be a really positive contributor if you want, but I am not going to help you if you continue as above.

Darn. That game had looked like so much fun, that I was thinking of doing one of my own. For a long time, I have had a fantasy of doing a WiF game where Italy declared war on the US impulse three of S/O 39, but was never able to figure out a way of making the result interesting. You did.

That is indeed a shame. One of my favorite AARs.

You and the other private beta testers and contributors is what made / makes MWiF possible. Thank you!

Hi I'm a major detractor on the state of this product, but it is getting better and I echo the sentiments of rkr1958, I'd rather the better testers did the first pass of testing rather than me. They won't catch everything (even the seemingly obvious) but they have my THANKS anyway.

In fairness I haven't tried since the new release and it's possible that some of it has been cleaned up. Naval moves were taking longer than land moves. The worst was shore bombardment. I have no idea why it takes so freaking long but shore bombarding with a stack of ships is a near game stopper.

A few things I do not understand. If you install a patch which is declared not yet to be stable and fully tested, or whatever, then expecting perfection is just silly. Instead use the latest proofed version.

as for the game itself. It really has no peers, I like Hearts of iron but it is just nowhere near as interesting and strategic as this one.

That long calculation time regarding shore bombardment is a new one for me. That shouldn't be necessary, I believe.

The problem with a game with all the world at war is the fact that there are so many supply sources for units of all different nations that the number of supply calculations becomes very large.

I've spend quite some time having a "stress test" game available in which all the world was at war, so I know that the time for supply calculations can go up to more than a minute in the long run, depending on where the unit is (this also depends on the available processor in your computer, too).

Supply calculation time is the only area, on which MWIF needs time to think. Problem is however, that there are so many times that supply calculations needs to be done...

Been lurking, and with our current game on hold due to a bug we've been playing on Vassal. Looks like 2.2.8 fixes it looking forward to 3.2
