I really wanted to add the Panther F model and the Kugelblitz, and a few variants of the Hetzer to my scenarios, maybe 4-5 added vehicles at the most. I don't think this would likely cause a crash.

Have you got my PM ? Happy to talk you through what to do either publicly or by PM - the community needs more people like you willing to use the Editor.

I've been studying the German side of WWII, especially the eastern front for over 35 years. I have a pretty good library I've built up over the years. I spend more time using the editor than playing actually games. I'm working on modding some of the existing scenarios. I'm working right now on modifying "Drama on the Danube". I've incorporated and increased the map boundaries to include for the axis side, all of AG North Ukraine, and for the Soviets, part of the 1st Belorussian Front, and the entire 1st Ukrainian Front. If you guys ever decide to unlock the Balkans,(which would be a wish come true)I have a lot of OOB's for the German's in that theatre and I have already got the complete system ready to include the Bulgarians. I've got 2 Bulgarian Armies, with Generals, OOB, and units ready to go. If you guys ever need them, just ask and I will send them to you.

"say I am playing a game as the Germans and the war doesn't end in May'45 and I am still in combat in summer and autumn 1945... you say there is nothing wrong with your patch, I beg to disagree."

@Bad Max, after 9/45 how do you model Allies or Axis w/fission bombs? Of course, understand your interest may be limited to East Front issues and simulation, but...?

The game automatically ends in December 1945 regardless what happens. This is as far as the game can be played to. In regards to using nuclear weapons, the allies would never have used it in Europe, too much collateral damage. Japan, on the other hand, is a self-enclosed perfect target.

You DO realise that the original allied (US) plan WAS to use the Atom Bombs on Germany? That targets had ALREADY been selected for 1945, but that the Germans had the bad manners to collapse/surrender before the Bombs were ready.

Their use on Japan was an afterthought, NOT the original intention at all.

Seems that you pays your money and takes your chance.

Older material (and I mean only from the late 90s or early 00's *) indicated more firmly that Germany was the target until it became obvious that the bomb wouldn't be ready and/or the Germans were already more or less beaten ... even the more recent stuff is equivocal ... 'until 1943' everyone on the project was expecting Germany, but actual target selection wasn't done until 1944 and the Bombs weren't ready till 1945.

Regardless of how you slice it, it's obvious that Germany was the first intended target ... even if things didn't make that possible.

* ISTR that 'Downfall' had a reference in one of its footnotes that mentioned that specific targets had been at least suggested in Germany, from memory Bremen or Bremerhaven was one mentioned. But take that with a grain of salt, as I have no intention of digging through the scads of footnotes therein to see if I'm remembering the correct source [:)]

I am attempting to modify scenario's in the game to include the improved CV calculation.
I have taken the following steps:
1) Update to 1.08
2) Open the editor
3) Load Scenario X
4) Change the title of the Scenario to X Alt CV
5) Edit the default value of CV to 1
6) Save the scenario

The title of the edited scenario appears in the list of scenario's on the Games menu screen. I select it but it will not load.

Am I missing a step here?

If I install 1.08 will it screw up PBEM games already in progress under 1.07.15?

Both players need to agree on this update. But I suggest to first test 1.08 in single player mode, you may want to keep an 1.07.15 installation as a backup.
Please the 1.08 discussion thread to learn about possible issues with 1.08 that may need to be fixed before you want to upgrade your PBEM game.

Have not played WITE in years, but between Jinson's revamped map and this update, I'm tempted to go back.

Can I install this new Beta patch directly over a 'fresh' install (i.e., the game as installed directly from the CD, without previous patching, v.100 for all intents and purposes)?

If not, what do I need to be patched 'up to' in order to install this latest beta patch?

Thanks!

If you have expansions install them first in order of appearance. Otherwise the patch should work from a 1.00 game.

Thanks! I may do a fresh install, install the 1.07.15 patch (which I assume is cumulative), then this beta patch, just to be sure.

The logistics log seem to show a different strength composition than the actual one.

Best regards.

Yes, that will make sure you have 100% correct install.

...because the unit receives replacements after it arrives during the same logistics phase.

I have browsed the forum but cannot find a discussion about the full campaign with ALT CV.

Can someone please explain the reasoning for the alternate CV approximation and whether it is genuinely seen as more accurate or merely a means of counterbalancing an imbalance elsewhere in the game?

Thanks!
