Firstly, thanks for your assistance in the last couple of posts; I will have a look at these.

Secondly, if that is the case, the Axis are as incompetent as I am [:D] The AI should just sit back and watch me make an arse of things....

I find (and I am a complete beginner) the Air Loss screen the most helpful, and accurate, it seems to tally with the VPs you get for air losses. They are a real help with winning this scenario. With land units, I find assaulting with units under the same command makes a real difference, so I reassign Divisions at the beginning to make this easier, and keep the Corps HQ close. Good luck!

Right I have adjusted the settings as Mr Burns suggests - lets see what happens when I press the execute button.

I still came out worst but it was closer [:)]

However the Summary has just appeared and..... I have somehow lost another 101 aircraft to 2 enemy.... Okay.

Some help would be appreciated here guys!!

Enemy losses shown on summary screen mean direct immediate losses when intercepting your flights. Quite often totals are way higher.

You may click a graph button next to "AIR EXEC PHASE SUMMARY" which will navigate you to the charts. They will show more precise info on the enemy losses and sorties.

Give it time for your fatigue and experience to recover and you should see some improvement, but overall I think the allies should expect to lose about twice the numbers the axis loses until a tipping point in the air war is reached. Right now the Luftwaffe is still pretty powerful.

Then I up mission percentages to 30 except recons they only go up to 25. Finally I set default altitudes to 22k, recons stay at 30k.

Hey Jim, what do you mean by "mission percentages"? I don't see that field when I'm creating/modifying air directives.

Also, is strategic bombing at night effective? Is it better against certain targets (e.g., manpower)? I take fewer losses, but my bombs go astray in the dark.

Not directives, Doctrines. See the screenshot. Can’t comment on the strat bombing question game is still too new.

Ahh; I haven't even touched the doctrines. I've been wondering why my pilots aren't more fatigued. The doctrines probably explain it.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it.

keep in mind with the number of sorties your air is flying, that a significant number of losses are probly operational losses rather than combat losses

i am sure there is a way to drill down the reports to find out the loss types: flak, air combat, and operational losses

So in turn 3 I launch three lots of attacks:

- I clear the Napoli Regiment in the south
- The US 1st and 3rd Infantry Divisions force the retreat of a couple of Italian units
- But an Anglo-Canadian attack on the east coast fails to dislodge the defenders.

I have ordered airborne landings on the northern coast (I hope I have done it correctly) to split the Axis forces in two.

The losses chart is looking a little friendlier now - particularly in the air.

Started playing this scenario last night, was quite surprised how much of a handle I have already on air, airborne, and phib ops-- GREAT tutorials for us WitE veterans, guys.

That said: in Husky as the Allies, what steps can I take to prevent/impede German evacuation from Sicily to the mainland? I was using airpower against the ferries pretty heavily, but it looked like most of the Germans got off the island intact. Any advice?
