Turn 52 VP’s this turn: -45 ---------Total: -128
Western Allies KIA this turn: 22,297 + 15,000 from my attacks= 37,000
After my moves WA’s only control 7 hexes, if they control less then 10 on July 1st then Germany gains 1000 points. I guess he could simply invade any old beach to gain the 3 hexes he needs.
Near Dieppe I SS Panzer Corp drives back VII Infantry Corp and shrinks the beach head from 6 hexes to 5 hexes. I am kind of surprised by the very weak resistance. Only 145 CV, I am guessing supplies are a major issue. I will do my best to hold the port the only high CV units are stacked near it.

At the Brittany beach head XIV Panzer Corp shrinks the beach head from 4 hexes to 2. 2 more panzer divisions are being rushed to the area to finish it off hopefully. Amazing low CV during both battles, it might be possible that to many invasion areas is a bad thing.

In Southern France we are just tring to hold the beach head. Again low CV when he attacked and yes the Gustov Line holds back 4 assaults.

Turn 53 VP’s this turn: -32 ---------Total: -160
Western Allies KIA this turn: 24k
I was able to shrink the Britany pocket down to 2 hexes again, but now there is no temp port. I am just holding at the other beach heads. II SS Panzer Corp is on the way to Dieppe area.
I did not get the 1000 VP’s as per the rules, must be counted at the end of the turn. I do not see WA’s gaining 3 hexes unless he invades a hex some place. All other fronts hold.

Turn 56 VP’s this turn: -79 ---------Total: -314
Manpower: 37K AP: 2,971k
WA’s pushed back my gain but were unable to move in. I moved in and set up 4 reserve divisions. I like to try and hole the lines right here until fall rains. IF I can get a good FZ line I can pull back some panzers to hold in reserve.

The lines hold on all three fronts despite repeated attacks on all three areas.
Manpower and armaments are staying static for now.

Turn 57 VP’s this turn: -18 ---------Total: -332
Both battles I get a reserve reaction, 1 the first and 2 the second. British drop a brigade of paratroopers behind my lines also they be dead quickly. The other beach head holds and so does the Gustov Line.

WA’s are tring to seal of the area, but I have depots very close and I am making constant supply drops from the air with transport. Enough replacements are getting to the front to bring CV’s up of 2nd line units. I just have to rotate units from the front to 2nd line every turn.

Turn 58 VP’s this turn: -35 ---------Total: -367
Again both battles I get reserve reactions, I have all the leaders with high initiative ratings from Corp (8) , Army (8) and AG (9) so every battle reserves are needed they are rushed to the battle and tipe the odds in my favor IF they are needed. Its very very important to have 1 Army set up to push back the WA’s where needed or to hold the line when are where you see fit. I am not going to try and push him back I am simply going to hold the line here. The other beach head holds and the Gustov Line loses 1 hex.

Turn 59 I lost the hex, no reserve reactions. Which was my bad, I had all 4 divisions on refit.
Not sure who Hitler shot for that mistake [:(]

I drive them back, but I am not going to advance. Its 10 VP per turn so I let him retake the hex, I put one unit on the hex with 6 reserve reaction units.

I wonder why there isn't any air support on those attacks, it should be raining explosives all over your army that close to England. Good to see germans can make some good attacks in '44

You need to set up the air directive for the air support to fly. My guess is that the WA isn't using any airgroup for air support.

Not sure, but we have been chatting in emails about every turn.
Belphegor is more then welcome to post.
We are both learning as we go, so I would expect his next game to be much better.
Having lt or mixed AA in every division make for nasty results for ground support units.
The Le Havre area is really about the worst area to invade as
long as the German player sets the trap before May.
Its far worse then Normandy as you really only have 2 hexes to attack from per battle and the 2 ports are about impossible to take.
Basicly a large POW camp.

I've been making whole hockey socks of mistakes this game as I learn. I don't understand game mechanics from reading the rules, I have to play and suffer. And that's not in any way to take away from Pelton's excellent play.
My invasions; all of them, have been disasters. My advice to anyone learning is don't underestimate the amount of planning and focus needed to succeed. And always leave some space for your troops to retreat. No point cramming the beaches so full they rout after any attack. I've really been playing with the air as well trying to understand the best mix. I managed to bomb some German units so heavily they gave up their Italian defences without much of a fight. On the other hand my strategic bombing has seemed ineffective by comparison. That too could have used much more focus.
I had hoped that spreading invasions would spread his response. Unfortunately it looks like I was the one who suffered from dispersal of effort. And I have to agree, in hindsight, Le Havre is terrible as a place to land.
edit: I'm pleased to say my other opponents are paying the price for my pain here. Or they will. [:D]

Flak units attached to divisions or do you put them at corp level?

Starting to rotate out my Panzers with infantry, so I will have reserves for the next invasion.
I hold the hex with several reserve reactions.
