Not from within the game. Use Windows Explorer to go to the Matrix Games/War in the Pacific etc. directory and then the Save Game folder. The numbering of the saved games corresponds with the list in-game from the "Load Saved Game" screen.

hey guys, so I have another question, in WITPAE, is there a way to resupply TFs at sea, ik you can refurl them, but I was wondering, is there a ship type, like destroyer tenders and Sub tenders, that can resupply TFs with ammo and stuff other than fuel? If not, then what can the sub tenders and destroyer tenders do?

AE type units can underway replenish, with some restrictions.
Its a late war thing though, and off the top of my head I am not sure of the date.

Early in the game, they essentially act as AKE type vessels.

Cant say if this is the best thread about tenders but its a good read anyway:

tm.asp?m=2920431

Specifically about repairs, also covers tender-roles in that, is the must-read :

tm.asp?m=2990845

Thats all the homework for this week though^^, hope you still like the game and think its money well spent.

From '41 onwards, both sides can 'refuel at sea'. Optimally, one needs a Replenishment TF, composed of loaded AO types (& escorts), co-located w/ the needy TF. Alternately, ships can generally RAS from any other TF in the same hex, or even refuel themselves (light ships will refuel from heavies in the same TF). In each case, the refueling costs 'operations points' for both the giving & receiving ships, this cost reduces their travel range for the next movement phase. The refueling always needs manual supervision, except when you set a TF to 'Meet TF' & also 'Refuel TF'. TFs will also automatically attempt to refuel ships in their own TF, if fuel is available - say a light escort vessel in a TF w/ several transports. When a TF arrives at a base, it can attempt to refuel, even if the base has 0 fuel, so long as there are disbanded ships in that base w/ available fuel. Note that submarines can never RAS, they can only refuel at a base that has fuel on hand.

Beginning Jan '45, Allied (only) TFs can re-arm at sea from a Replenishment TF composed of loaded AE (only) types. This is sweet! Prior to that date, the Allies will receive some several CVEs carrying 'VRF' airgroups. If in a ReplTF, these CVEs can supply replacement aircraft/pilots to other carrier airgroups in normal range. The plane-types must be identical, & the re-supply will only fill out the receiving airgroups normal complement, it will not provide add'l 'reserve' planes.

There are many other types of naval auxiliaries - AKE, AD, AS, AG, AVP, AGP, AVD, etc. These types can re-arm certain types of warships, enable minor repairs, or support certain types of airgroups. To function properly, they must be undamaged, loaded w/ supply, & disbanded in a port location.

2 types of auxiliary, ARD & AR, can perform repairs. These types don't need a supply load, but must be undamaged & disbanded in the port hex.

In general, naval auxiliaries can bring improved capabilities to small, undeveloped bases. They work even better, if an LCU that includes 'Naval Support' squads in its O/B is also present. These ships can be weirdly type-specific - for instance, only AGPs can provide torpedo reloads to PT boats. See these posts for good info:

hey guys, I have the game and have been playing for a while, but I do have some questions, I noticed that some air squadrons can't be put on board ships and a lot of air squadrons can't be transferred toa different air force, like the air squadrons on the west coast, I can't transfer to Hawaii because there permanently set to IV fighter command, why can't they be put on ships or transferred to Hawaii or other air forces? Is it possible to send supplies to bases via land routes, if so, how? Finally, when I go into the base screen, there is the list showing the fuel and supplies required for the base, but next to that info, there is a yellow "no" and if I click that it switches to "yes", what does that mean?

You need new not read the manual cover to cover. I never did. :D However, if you don't, you should be the type of person who notices squadrons and LCUs don't always act the same, which you are. On top of that though, you need to be able to figure out why that is... And, if you're this type of person, you should discover quite quickly the difference between restricted and un-restricted HQs by either clicking around for awhile in game, or by looking it up in the manual!

Of all course, we are always here too!

That is what happens when you don't pay attention to the information which is presented to you.

1.  The air unit screen shows the maximum range of the aircraft.  This info is also found in various other locations.

2.  The distance between the current airfield and the new airfield is shown on the transfer screen.  This info is also obtainable by other means.

3.  When maximum range of aircraft is less than distance between the two airfields, the transfer screen will indicate that the unit is railroaded to its new airfield.  The travel time is also shown in the transfer screen.

4. Air units travelling by railroad are found in the air unit reinforcement screen. Travel time is also shown here.

This is covered on pages 146-147 of the manual.

Alfred-

While occasionally using rail transfer, I was unaware that the movement was displayed as posted in your note 4 above.

Am constantly learning something new in this awesome game!

Thank You, Sir for the clarification.
