Turn 67 Turns left: 29 Hexes to Berlin: 53 VP: -626
Manpower Pool: 40,000 Armaments Pool: 70,000
The lines hold, the rains begin and disbanding is under way. Like WitE you only disband units after 41/42 blizzard. WitW once the fall rains begin in 44 start disbanding, unit CV will climb quickly.

When you talk about disbanding, what exactly are you disbanding? Your manpower is still pretty good for the amount of casualties you've taken to date. I was wondering what your method is?

Rifle,GD,SM (infantry) ect squads huge.
I set all TOE same as WitE
HQ's 93% if a HQ goes under 90% it gets a -1 on each roll 80 -1 more ecte ctee or
ALL AA,Gun,tank,MG, eng, SU's at 51%
Infantry divisions at 90% seems to keep CV more balanced over all.
I disband some HQ's Germany has extra for sure, AA units as the citys get over run (if I remember), I disband all the LB units at some pt in 44 and stop fling NPs also at some point.
Just setting the support SU's at that lvl over time helps allot in the long run.
I am just now changing over to reserve reaction set-up as its a waste to use during summer months because of the planes.

Turn 68 Turns left: 29 Hexes to Berlin: 53 VP: -617
Manpower Pool: 38,000 Armaments Pool: 70,000
I am giving ground in the northern 1/2 of the front and basicly holding the southern 1/2.

Manpower Pool: 51,000 Armaments Pool: 70,000
WAs got to the German stop lines last turn and no attacks this turn as there is heavy rain and mud.
No change in the VP score, WA took some heavy losses a few turns ago.
Germany is getting another 10 fresh divisions over the new few turns and with very poor weather CVs at the front should be ok.
Now I just need to form a Panzer Corp as a fire brigade and the lines should be stable until clear weather.

I resigned the game as it was evident from the writing on the wall that I couldn't make up enough points to even get a draw in the few turns left, bad weather, etc...but I did get the score back below -599. I have some pics showing my furthest lines. I was planning a huge offensive as I had moved most of my armor up north to avoid all that rough and woods.

Ending OOB. Germany still has 2.4 million men, and his casualties were right around 1.4 million to date. Plenty of tanks, and even planes, but I'm sure he has almost no pilots.

Railyards! I've had most of those railyards suppressed from when I invaded the Netherlands, but now the area is quite a bit larger as over the past several turns I've turned almost every railyard within that area to dust. I looked and I believe there is still one or two that aren't 100% and have been. I'm interdicting his railway too, flying in the bad weather, but it really has no affect on the axis combat abilities unless they move. I did this all the way across France, to no affect it seemed.

I learned a lot this game and I really enjoyed it, as Pelton's an excellent player. I made several mistakes this game, but sometimes they don't become evident until it's too late. I had thought I'd have the force to push out of Brittany in 43 after I had landed, but I could never achieve local superiority until spring of 44 so that invasion had Brittany and didn't move again till spring. Hitting his wall would have taken a lot of vp's to get thru and I was using the heck out of my strategic bombers just to cut his supplies off, which never happened even though France looked like the surface of the moon. That cost me bombing points, and my bombing strategy improved during this game from suggestions from NOSB.
Once I did finally break thru his defenses, there was an 8 turn occurrence that still perplexes me. In those 8 turns I caused him over 400k casualties, but yet when he stops to reform his lines those CV's soar again, so really air power is only useful if the axis player moves or is forced to move by retreats. He formed three lines from Brittany to the present positions and those same divisions are now again at a high CV. Could it be possible they are getting supplied and replacements from just trucks alone?
The scope to win is just very narrow imo, and if you make one mistake during your campaign you probably won't win. Allied side is pretty complicated at times, and honestly there should be a little give to getting a win because no one can play a perfect game and especially not every game. A little adjusting really needs to be looked at. I'm not asking for the allies to get a win everytime, but as it is right now you have a very small chance to win if the game goes into late 44.
I'm ready to test any adjustments!!![8D]

+1 agree with meklore.
Has anyone actually won as WA? I think it might be impossible now with the polder.

I've won as the allies, but only thru resignation. If the game went the distance I lost.

Great game.
The air power is amazing only if you move. You can also over come some of interdiction with Corp HQ placement.
The CV jumped up because I held of disbanding everything until I got closer to Germany and bad weather hit.
Got that from WitE, disband after the 41/42 blizzard.
I agree that the VP system is off, but I have yet to play someone who does good with the bombing.
The airpower is only good if you can get Germans to move, that why its hugely important to have panzers spread all along coast.
I look forward to our next game after the next up-date

Can your clarify that?
I agree that the VP system is off, but I have yet to play someone who does good with the bombing.
It's hard to judge what is caused by VP scale and what is caused by disparity in player acumen at this stage.
The question is, if the game accurately sims the situation on the western front, should German players, aware they are playing a clock, not be able to take a more conservative than historical approach and ensure a better than historical front line when the bell tolls?
I think with evenly skilled players that should happen most of the time.
I think the WA extra reliance on air power magnifiers their learning curve, and it is reflected in the AARs as we don't generally have equal players on each side yet.
With the exception of playing Harrybanana in the breakout scenario I haven't seen good use of air power. I think it is why I have stymied, or overran, my opponents thus far playing as the Axis or the Allies.
Even in the Breakout scenario I learned some things on the play through that would make a repeat performance less likely, and I thought he did fantastic and yet he only was awarded a minor victory.
The airpower is only good if you can get Germans to move, that why its hugely important to have panzers spread all along coast.
I think the key (haven't had a campaign reach the point to see myself) is in the supplies.
Are horse drawn supplies subject to interdiction?
