Huh. Sounds like you're doing well enough. Hitting any of the invasions or invasion shipping hurts Japan at this stage as you know. If you throw off the schedule for a certain base or area, it has a ripple throughout the rest of the SRA. You're only goal is to slow things and take a tithe against his conquests. You're seemingly doing a good job of that.

After reading a bit about this part of the war your Manado strike is really similar to a few B-17 hits on Japanese shipping parked forward ready for the next invasion. The accounts stated that early on there was no CAP up in bases like Davao but huge fleets of Japanese invasion shipping tied together and easy pickings even from height for the fortress crews.

Meanwhile, 3 of 5 TF worth of empty transports are south of these islands headed for Panama and eventually USA. Better to be safe than feed John's ego when it comes to sinking transports. [:D]

North Pacific: CV Saratoga back to Vancouver for replenishment.

Australia: 31 B-17s from 7th BG have made it into Sydney via Pago Pago and Auckland. If Pago Pago falls, then this air bridge for the 4e bombers will be cut off.

Meanwhile, what appears to be the remaining Japanese flattops are spotted east of Ternate. The question for me is what bases have Air HQs to project his Nells and Bettys. KB - seems to be headed for someplace in California from San Fran to San Diego.

USA - Seattle now has 230 fighters while Tacoma has 75. CVL King's Mtn is there repairing while CV Sara and Yorktown get rid of minor system damage. I would have sent the Swordfish in with torpedoes. I have always had great success with them, especially in this case with no enemy fighters present although this Japanese TF is a a little bigger than I normally see.

I didn't get a turn back from John yet. Somehow I messed up with two SC TF that were to end their turn at Tarakan. My new orders have the two American BCs with 8 DDs and a newly formed TF with 4 CAs and 6 DDs both bombarding the base. If any planes were flown in, they will be damaged and hopefully those 16" guns can find any damaged CAs. If not, then DS planes will have a chance in the PM phase as they move one hex closer. Force Z will move to join the CV/CVLs and the 3 American CLs will stand guard outside the base.
