Turn 8, Aug 21, 1943
Using brutal methods that Western press is unwilling to report Patton restores order in the 7th Army rear.
Hube doesn't let up the pressure, ordering an assault against a poorly supplied division of Americans that force them back across the river.
The 7th Army consolidates its positions this week and tries to restore the flow of supplies.
On Sardinia the British 8th Army's blitzkrieg is averaging 10 miles a week. Montgomery promises Churchill he will capture Olbia ahead of schedule and before Christmas.

He emailed me a week ago that he hopes to be able to resume in 'another week or so' as he's traveling for business, so I'm optimistic.

I guess the game does something to auto-complete server games if they're not logged into after a period.

That's odd. On the server it has every indication of being active. It says it can be downloaded by the allied player. Did the Allied player resign?
I can roll it back to the prior German save if you'd like me to do that.

I don't believe so. I get an email when an opponent resigns, but I noticed several games since the .44 patch that were abandoned by my opponents started listing as 'completed' after a month+ of them not logging in.
I can roll it back to the prior German save if you'd like me to do that.
If NOSB seeks to play on, I'm willing, but I haven't heard from him.

It looks as server finished the game due to the long inactivity. I'll ask if it is possible to make it active.

Yes this one has been my fault. I suggest I resign and perhaps we start again? I'd understand if you didn't want to. I'm back from the dead and I might have to update to the latest version. I haven't been active with the game in months, but with the holidays coming up I'll have some time again.

I have three other games ongoing as the Axis (1 EF box, 2 no EF box) and I'd like to wrap them up and start trying as the Allies in the grand campaign, so I don't really want to start this one over from scratch at this time.
This game had been going the way of most others so far, with the exception of more success for the Axis on Sicily because the initial invasion force was so relatively weak and thinly spread I stayed put for a few weeks to toy with it. I wasn't going to risk reinforcing as Sicily is too easily isolated and mech can't be extracted.
You had just finally begun to reach my actual island defenders, and paras dug in to the hills are a tough lot and once you fight a week or two this separated from depots your attack CV falters quickly. Getting the necessary 2-1 differential becomes much harder as early victory can have the FJ bumping 90 morale in no time. As they get worn down (talking the 30% TOE range) they're still tough in rough entrenchments, and can be airlifted out without much fuss whenever the Axis player decides the distraction has proven its worth. Takes two or maybe three turns depending on condition of your lift (East Front box is nice in this regard, as you don't have to transfer lift back East if you don't want to) to hop them back to Italy or Corsica.
Freight air drops are still incredibly generous in this game (too much so in my opinion, as it easily undoes all the hard work that goes into degrading the supply chain), and the paras are light enough to move back adjacent to an airfield and reap the benefits and then move back into the line. Starving them is hard. Natural and man made fortifications beyond a certain level also help mitigate isolation effects even if the Allies succeed in committing the forces required to isolate the islands long term.
I'll produce AARs for other ongoing games, each of which feature forward defense of the islands, and aggressive play south of the Volturno Line (and north of it, as need be!)

That's fine. I am also starting to look at DC: Barbarossa and of course I can't wait for TOAW IV to be released.
