I do have PS (CC2015) on a beast of a PC. Would love to take a look. Would you be willing to share the action script? If not, its okay.

How does one go about identifying the discrepancies between the extended and normal map? Do you use the pwhex files somehow? I'm assuming the stock masks would cover 99% of the extended map.

Awesome! This helps a lot. You weren't kidding about that file...but got it loaded and playing around in PS.

btw, sure, you're new to the game but maybe contacting mr. andrew brown (maker of the vanilla stock map) for a non-labled map would be a great 'something' - at least a huge timesaver!!!

email sent.

Hey Chemkid,

A quick update on what I've done with SunnyDay -

I used the layered file set you provided and created new name and dot vector assets from scratch for it. In addition, I created the assets necessary to create both the stock and extended types, as well as hex or dot versions. Finally, I used the PS script file you uploaded to set up batch processing for rapid iteration/testing.

I'm now in the 'polishing' stage - I keep Illustrator open while I play and make tweaks as I go along. [:D]

Thanks again for uploading all the files - I certainly have gained a new appreciation for all the work you put into Yamato Damashii!

Korvar, let me offer some feedback. When you use the sans-serif type for names of minor islands, it makes the map too modern. I would look for a font type that has 1940s feel to it or one which was used in 1940s. Just a thought.

Yaab,

It's funny that you said that because I specifically made the region names have that look. I tried your suggestion using the serif version of the font I'm using for the base names - see the preview below. The map is a continuous WIP, I'm tweaking stuff here and there as I spot things while I play.

Thanks for the feedback!

looks good! makes me wanna play with the typography again - smaller/finer fonts ect...

here's a photoshop pattern file for everyone who likes to do grid and dot overlays on-the-fly:

---> DOWNLOAD GRID/DOT PATTERN HERE! <---

Oh sure, provide the patterns after I've recreated them from scratch... [:'(]

I'm using your font set for YD, so it *shouldn't* look that much different from yours - which makes me think of...

You probably already know this, but I've found it useful to always make sure to use the 'hinted' rasterize option. This pops up when saving the file as well as if there are any rasterize effects applied to any individual layers. Both locations need to be checked. The 'supersampling' option looks more blurry when it comes to text.
