In Decision "Ambiguous Orders" (04.07.41):

Wrong: "Armeegruppe Nordwärts" - Right: "Heeresgruppe Nord"
Wrong: "Armeegruppe Zentrum" - Right: "Heeresgruppe Mitte"
Wrong: "Armeegruppe Sud" - Right: "Heeresgruppe Süd"

Have to say, the *numerous* typos, misspellings, truly "ersatz" usage of German terms, grammatical conventions (even just capitalization... Jesus, CAPITALIZE GERMAN NOUNS) -- or the lack of any convention for mixing German and English terms (which frankly you should just avoid doing) -- all these are exasperating.

Some may say "who cares?" but in a game that leans pretty heavily on the mechanic of 'telegrams' and so forth, it's actually important to get it right.

For example, the telegram screen-shot on the Matrix game page: Rundstedt ("F.M" missing period) is "Kdt. THEATRE, Army Group South", later signs the telegram from "Ostfront" -- there's no rhyme or reason to the mixing of German and English renderings. Army Group South, but Ostfront (not Eastern Front). Again, exasperating.

Friedrich Barbarossa wasn't a holy roman emperor.
He was an Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.

In decision "inefficient loading": "Rassenrein" should be "gleichartig" and
"Aussentellen" has to be "Aussenstellen".

Propaganda minister is "Goebbels" not "Göebels".

Halders diary (16.Juli): "Grossdeustchland" has to be "Grossdeutschland".

Remark: Impressed by the game, nevertheless. Typos are there to be eliminated! [:D]

Left to right:

Gen. Obst. is the correct German abbreviation for Generaloberst. But there is no space between Gen. and Obst. It is Gen.Obst.

What is a Col.G?

Col. Gen. should be Generaloberst, abbr. Gen.Obst. ?

Gen. Lt. is Genaralleutnant, abbr. Gen.Lt.? (no space between Gen. and Lt.!)

GenLt. stands for Gen.Lt. I guess.

I agree that the "Pidgin German" is bad for immersion. If you want to use German in the game, please use the real language. :)

Also the politically correct stuff like AG Farben is unnecessary, unless there's some real legal reason prohibiting the use of the original name. But I know that IG Farben as a conglomerate doesn't even exist anymore. Since the brutal dictators Hitler and Stalin are already present in the game, along with a few other unsavoury characters, IG Farben wouldn't really make things any worse, in my humble opinion.

Obviously these are small details and the game is great even without changing them. :)

I completely agree with the IG usage.

and Vic, et al, yours is a tough job sorting out how much immersion to use here. Viel glück!

... and it's Friedrich Paulus, no "von". Paulus was not a nobleman.

In a "Relocate Airfield" report, there was the "Kommandante" again. Better would be "Oberbefehlshaber".
And "Stay clear of flugzeuge" should be something like "I will take care of all aviation matters". (Göring !)

The correct abbreviation for Generaloberst is Gen.Oberst - no Obst (fruit ;))

The others you mention are there to accommodate non-German speakers. It'd be nice to go for full realism here but it's not much good if nobody understands what's being said so there is some fudging involved.

I think in the end it is just MORE confusing to deliberately write something wrong (even for non-german speakers) instead of using the correct expression.

I guess this should be Nord, not Nörd.
To be precisely, it's Heeresgruppe Nord!

I agree. Absolutly!

I hope all these 'typos' will be addressed soon. True immersions killer to me.

Singular or plural, there is no "'s" with km.
It's 120km south of Riga

On the map and in the reports: Dunaburg should be Dünaburg.

1. What 'verrückt' stands for?

They meant possibly "crazy" and translated literally. If anything it should say verrückt*E*.

Hi kosmoface,

Yep, crazy it is. Is the 'verrückt*E*' shorthand for something?

Looks a bit strange.

Cheers,
