Yes, make it the UK. There is now way the Finns would have run to the Soviets for help.

When we open this dialog and click on a choice, say Yugoslavia, then switch from Germany to Italy, the selection jumps back up to the USA. It should stay on the previously selected, say Yugoslavia, because if we want to make another selection we can, but when it jumps back to USA we have to make another selection [extra click].

For us name changers, it would be a nice touch if we could change the unit names here :

I agree, that would be nice.

Will there be any changes to the map when zoomed out to max? It looks pretty bad atm. I think it suffers from the same "contrast of quality" that the menues(research, production etc) do. I know those things will be changed but not sure about the "max zoomed out map".
Also I don't think it should show weather. Imo max zoomed out should be for just seeing territory controlled and to get a good overview of the frontlines. The weather puts different colors on nations which makes it harder to get that overview of the territory you and the enemies control.

Just for the record:
I'm still unhappy about the way you offer the information of MPPs, National Morale, War Readiness etc.
Even though the screen is really crowded, i feel less informed then with the predecessor SC games.
I grant you that it looks "pretty" (except for those National Morale bars, which don't add much information while consuming space while looking ugly), but it doesn't help to look up, down, left, right.
MPPs should be found where you can easily see them. Left corner is a bad placement. And in the flagg bar on the left, there is missing anything to indicate which number means what. For this you have to move the mouse cursor over the buttons to get the pop-up info.
[:(]
edit:
regarding the purchase menu:
would it be possible to conect the price of a unit to the amount of MPPs ready to be spent?

Just a quick note on the National Morale bars, these can be turned off if preferable via the Advanced settings screen.

Nice
Are you planing to make any "cosmetic" changes to the 'max zoomed out map'?

Right now the plan is to get the latest and greatest version of the basic UI in place and remove all the old SC2 placeholders.
For the additional zoom requests, and just to make sure I'm on the right page here, is this to have everything look one step bigger, or one step smaller?
Thanks,
Hubert

I think both would be great. One more zoom in and also one zoom out between "max zoom out" and "medium zoom".

First, as a long-time player of the original SC, I think the new version is excellent!!! Great job!!! I do, however, have a couple UI comments after my first hour of playing time, namely:
1) The one thing I kept wishing while playing the new version is that there was a zoom level between the current widest zoom setting (which shows the entire map from a great distance but virtually no details) and the second widest zoom setting (which is actually a bit too close up for some purposes). In other words, it would be nice if there was an intermediate zoom level between these two pre-existing zoom levels, so that you could see, say, all of western Europe (but without the east coast of North America, North Africa, the Soviet Union, etc.). The original version of SC permitted such a zoom level and, in fact, it was on that zoom level that I often spent much of my playing time.
2) It seems to me that the map is a little too dark. I could of course adjust the lighting on my monitor, but my monitor settings are fine for all my other computing purposes, so I would not like to do that. Is there a way to lighten the map a little?
Sincerely, Shane in south Louisiana USA

One other issue: the borders became scrambled once when I toggled between zoom levels. (See below screenshot.) But the problem went away the next time I zoomed out and then zoomed back in. (Whether this is a function of the program or my aging PC, I don't know!)

One more zoomout would be nice for the strategic overview.

It's quite difficult to select a unit almost on top of the screen, CA Deutschland in that case. I have to move the map a bit to be able to select the unit.

A lot of clicking/hitting a key.
Events messages will, usually, require the player to hit a key or click on the screen to disappear.
I find those actions a bit tiring since the event summary will be displayed at the end of the turn, easy to catch something the player missed.

Suggestion for adding an 'operate-slow' mode, whereby a unit would be given a long-range movement destination, but would make that movement over however many turns required to get that far with normal movement, and not have to pay an MPP cost.
This would alleviate the tedium of manually moving forces from one front to the next, for many turns. Example, moving the German army from France to setup for Barbarossa. The forces would get there no sooner; the player would simply not have to do the moving.

I see now I'm not the only one who had this idea (to add an additional zoom out step -- because the next zoomed in step is a little too close up for some purposes, and the next zoomed out step is way too zoomed out for any practical purposes). I imagine this additional zoomed out step would permit the gamer to for example view, and to move units while viewing, an entire region of Europe, but without including North America, North Africa, the Soviet Union, etc. Sort of like as shown in the below screen shot from the earlier SC. At present this doesn't seem possible with the new SC, unless I'm doing something wrong.
