If the German attacks fail - or aren't great - then will you consider fighting with both Polish aircraft?

No, with oil rules I can use them once then they are useless.

If Germany tries to just screen the Poles and commits heavily in the West, the CW can sometimes rail an Oil into Warsaw...

On the other side of the globe, the Japanese achieve their objective but that about wraps things up for the turn.

I would enjoy commanding the Japanese against this set-up in a general sense. As for the CAV in the forward position, I would be content as well. The 2 Chinese CAV are their most mobile units and make a good effective strategic reserve in the mountains, especially since the Chinese have to set up first and can't know which axes of advance the Japanese will select.

I would just screen the CAV with 2 ZoC units, which costs 2 garrison points, but immobilizes the CAV. Then the Japanese CVs, which can set-up already at sea in the 2 box, can take four Ground Strike shots at it on any Combined Impulse (Japan has to select one/turn to reinforce China anyway), for up to 3 turns before they even Return to Base at End-of-Turn. The Imperial Guard and other MAR corps could also stop by the area and help insure that mopping up the CAV is as risk-free as possible while still remaining in overall strategic reserve for the Japanese.

Thanks for the reminder, Brian Brian. I forget the Japanese navy can start at sea. Maybe next time ...

HF and GL guys, I'll be following this game!
Hope no1 will have excessive luck (or both will have it). I hate to see interesting games getting owned by that. WiF has that possibility.

I think that if the Germans do gamble with Polish set-up (in order for quick results in the west) then they should be made to pay if at all possible [:)].

S/O 39 Axis 1

Germany & Japan Land. Italy Combined.

Bf-110's begin patrolling the North Sea (2-box), whilst Do-17's perform a similar role in the Baltic.

The Italians send a TRANS from La Spezia to the Red Sea (0-box) where it picks up the supply unit from Eritrea.

Stukas ground strike Warsaw and Lodz.

At Lodz, the HQ is hit.

Image
I have a strategy question on the ground strike on the lone 5-3 infantry corps occupying Warsaw. Assuming you used a 5-factor TAC, the odds during the surprise impulse of disorganizing that unit is 75%. So using this TAC for a ground strike gives you a 75% chance of adding +2 to your assault. Unless I'm missing something, if instead that 5 factor TAC was used in ground support during the surprise impulse it would provide 10 additional factors to the land combat, which with only 5 factors defending 100% guarantees an additional +4. Wouldn't ground support have been a more effective use for that TAC than ground strike?

Do you have the Soviet ships in the different pools?

What does that mean? [:)]
ship

There should be some Soviet ships on the production spiral at the start of the game. Unfortunately, they are currently missing from the set up.

I'm so used to ground striking Warsaw, I hadn't thought through what difference only having one unit defending made. I only remembered the double attack factors for ground support on the surprise impulse when the Warsaw attack came up so much more than expected. The tip of the sword is a bit rusty.

S/O 39 Allied 2

CW and France declares war on Germany. US entry roll 4, one chit moved. Reserves are called.

Germany sent planes both to North Sea and Baltic Sea and they don't have CP's in Baltic Sea. I should have placed one French sub to Western France...

***

Churchill: I'm a genius! Germany fell into our trap! They attacked Warsaw and they think they are doing well, now it is time to attack! CAV attacks that disorganized HQ and hopefully kills that Stuka too. Division goes to Lodz and INF adjacent to Lodz to buy on more impulse.

Generals: Didn't we plan to send troops to France in case of war?

Admirals: And escorts to our merchant ships?

Churchill: Yes, we do that all!

Admirals: We need to take naval action.

Generals: And then we have 0 land moves.

Churchill: What the ****? How can I forget that in two months??? Two months away from battle field and we mess up everything.

Admirals: We didn't mess up anything. We have perfect plans for escorts and how to transport 2 HQ's and MECH to France and TER to Egypt.

Generals: We didn't mess up anything. We planned to move our land units next impulse.

Churchill: ???

*Silence*

Churchill: So who messed up these plans?

*Silence*

Polish General: So are you going to help us?

*Silence*

Churchill: Send ships to seas! Brave Polish troops will fight to the end in the foxholes they are now! Polish pilots must come to UK immediately!

Polish General: We will fall in a week if you don't help us!

Churchill: Well, sorry for that. Someone messed up things big time and he will be punished. And thanks for all the information about Enigma. Don't worry, we will win this one. USSR is coming to help you asap.

CW and France naval, China land, USSR and US combined.

German assault guns overrun Frederickshavn.

The two CA's escape. Where would you like to send them? The Germans decline to intercept.

Edit: Just see post 2 above. They flee to Newcastle. One CP is destroyed and 1 captured.

The rest of Germany's movement is preparing the attack on Lodz plus some screening.
