Late November, 1941: Weather, COLD.
I am helping Elmer out more and more (He actually put up a pretty good wall as Soviet) but, due to TMI, I've been playing for Elmer the last few turns.
This is helpful (to me) b/c it helps me see what I'm doing wrong as Axis ... like leaving a seam open that I forgot about....resulting in this little Hinky Dinky @ Velikiyi Luki, Russian forces are on the move to rescue those HQ units that have been living in the swamp for the last few months ....they been watching rear armor heading to Leningrad, are in position now to maybe cause some problems b/h Axis lines .... We shall see!!

From the German PoV, this is starting to look troubling.
My whole AGC is about to collapse

Yes, means nothing, is just a shorthand I used for [fill in later] I just forgot the edit the post. I have a new user name thing now from the account merge. Downloading two patches now, going to try to update this a.m. and get our NATO/WP '62 game going .... so I keeping my fingers crossed that it works!! Download is going a bit slow ... maybe in oh, says 30 minutes left, so, going to try it in just a few. Already saved my game files to backup, so I'm confident that (at least) no harm will be done.
Anyway, yes, i've been moving for Elmer to (1) look at how I'm doing from his PoV (2) learn the Soviets formations / OOB. I started looking at Elmer's moves, and decided to reorganize his formations (they were spread out all over the map, harem-scarem ... Just finished regrouping the September 9th Army. What a chore!!

Moscow. Cold. There is a WHOLE LOT of Russians there around Moscow...how many?
I'm guessing a million souls, standing practically shoulder-to-shoulder.

I have found a note I left for myself....was a message from Stalin.
Says, "Soviets Plan 46 ... ->move 65th Army to Leningrad SE sector."
Must be some kind of code. Leningrad holds, but man, what a meat grinder.

Caught some Germans asleep at the wheel in Orel ...
Soviet 40th Army is about to cause some problems for that sector of AGC.

The Soviets have broken through AGC between Tula and Orel.
AGC is out of gas and almost out of bullets.

Nov. 30, 1941: If the Germans can't save what's left of those supplies, then regroup along that line b/w Tula and Orel, its going to be lights out for AGC

I'm not sure what's happening w/ some of the Sov units in "mounted" mode, here is a description of the events (not sure if a bug, or what, or probably I'm not understanding how this works) but it is happening w/ SOME units, but not others.
(Same thing happens w/ some ungarrisoned mobile units, too, this is just the example. Garrison mode is a moot point:) This unit, in "mounted" mode, has its little howitzers and guns, AND a few dozen tracks to tow them around, right? Well, if they in garrison mode, why not let some other folks have a shot at those trucks, seems logical to DISMOUNT the guns and send the trucks on their way. I mean, they've only been sitting there FOR MONTHS LoL;, but watch what happens (in the next message) after I choose to "dismount"

Clicking the "dismount" button wipes out the whole unit. What's more, They are GONE ... no undo. Unclick the button, they still gone. Note the funny number for movement, also. This occurs with SOME units, not others. Eg., one AAA unit, this happened ... GONE. Another AAA unit, worked fine. Kept the pieces, took the trucks. Those two AAA units were both organized and mobile at the time. Weird. Maybe I am not understanding the role and use of dismount? Ok, well, back to Leningrad!

For the units in Garrison, the Computer runs the Soviets in this scenario so consider that they aren't actually in Garrison, rather they are defending a specific hex/area. If they weren't in Garrison, Elmer might move them away. If forced to retreat they become mobile again, so no reason to remove their transport assets.
For the Dismount feature, any equipment that requires transport will be 'dismounted' and 'left behind'. Therefore, if all the equipment in a unit requires transport and that unit is dismounted, the unit will be removed.

Ah, ok, so that one AA unit that remained (after dismount) must have had some infantry or other type squad that did not require the transport. Thank you!!

No, I was actually looking at it today ... have been taking my time w/ it. I've been putting in maybe an hour or so every morning, which equates to two or three formations moves, then I save for the next morning. I've taken over for Elmer, too, for the nonce, getting Soviet formations back up to snuff. The way the Soviet OOB is set up (with armies split into three or two formations at times) Elmer seems to have managed to scatter them all over the map. No cohesion. So, that's my main focus now, is getting the Soviet Armies back into fighting trim.
Some thoughts: still working on Soviet move #48 I think (Dec. 3, 1941 I think it is.) German AGC is really suffering ... Sovs are setting up a grand pincer movement going around them, having taken Velikiye Luki back. I am pushing back the Luftwaffe little by little by grabbing airfields where I can.
Moscow is safe, but Kharkov is close to collapse (unless I can get the 9 Sept. and 58th Armies to hold there.) Leningrad still hangs in the balance due to the big German rail guns there, they are BRUTAL. Farther south, the Rumanians / Magyars / Czechs are pretty much done for, I think, so I am hoping to swing the extreme Southern front up and to the left so as to cut off forward elements of AGS that are pounding Kharkov.
Will post a pic when I get a chance. My knee swolled up like a cantaloupe here these past week or two, from bursitis I guess, so I'm trying to figure out how to rearrange the computer screen so that I can play while propping up my leg LoL

I'm sorry to hear about your knee. I hope you find a way to keep playing. Is there no treatment for it? Aspirin?
You might try some medical marijuana, a tinture or paste you can rub on it. Won't hurt. I'm doing MM for my PTSD and it's worked miracles. No more nightmares. It also might help me with my glacoma I understand. I can't get the VA to prescribe it for me though.
