Heavy fighting amongst recon forces, as Conscripts are pushed to fight at the frontmost, clearing the way for the Soviet army... MCs do their best to support the poor masses.

However, conscripts excel today at clearing out some heavily armd german reconaissance troopers with the help of light armor. Up North, fighting is more bloody as recon advances are repulsed by some kind of AA gun and more patrols. An AT-rifle group is gunned down however.

German artillery pound heavily on the Russian lines, killing a T-34 with a lucky top hit

German forces slowly move forward losing HT to Soviet advance force in the south, elsewhere Soviet recon is pushed back a little further.

Lots of action this turn, still meeting up with some recon forces.. but I think they are thinning cuz some MCs just got toasted by flammpanzers... also in the south... This is gonna get dangerous... Conscripts bunch together in cowardly defense... Where are those commisars when I need theM!?

A T-28 is also torched for effect... Didn't expect flamepanzers to be in play... Uh-oh...

Germans continue recon of the Soviet forces losing a flamer in doing so. Soviet Katyashas come back this turn killing some German infantry, German arty fires back upon known Soviet forces with rockets and heavy shells, destroying at least one AFV and suppressing a few others. In the North a group of Soviet armor is harassed by mortar shelling.

Heavy fighting this turn as Northern command bangs head on into panzer IVs with long guns with full SS and recon support. T-28s are not really designed to go toe to toe with MBTs so a ZiS-3 mobile AT gun is brought to the front and the melee resulted with the crew of the Pz-IV abandoning their vehicle as shot against shot bounced off their tank's hull & turret.

Uh-oh, recon reports more flame tanks than what I expected...and a heavy concentration of armor to the north...where armored forces are limited. Conscripts & MCs are thrown against the SS in desperation with obvious results (total annihilation of the MC squad and the conscripts are pinned.

In the middle heavy fighting against recon troops still ring out, an FJ squad is forced back with heavy casualties in the town middle. Down below an SS squad is annihilated at the cost of a conscript squad which was thrown at them to distract the stormtroopers.

German artillery punishes me everywhere; but the Soviet line is solid and will move on no matter the cost (in conscripts, hehehe)

Flamers forward.

Germans counterattack in the south eliminating several Soviet AFVs (T60,T28,T34,KV-1C etc.), flamers work really well at close range. Advance in the center is slow and Germans lose 2 HTs to Soviet AFV fire. In the north, PzIVs and flamers move in to take care of a couple of T-28s and IS-30 is shot up by HMG, those things are very thin skinned.

Heavy fighting everywhere. Soviet forces decide to abandon the forest that are working against them in the north and the south.

A wuhramen is hunted down in the middle, a HT destroyed down south... Where are the other German tanks? Flametanks really doing a number on the conscripts who wouldn't rally for their lives.

A fragile salient is formed in the middle. Several SS squads are destroyed including supporting MGs. Now...if only my flank forces would hold.

The Rush.

Germans continue to push through the flanks on both sides with flamers leading the way. In the south a platoon of T-28s gets toasted by flamers and Pz IVs. Closer to the middle the forrest is mopped up along with T-34 and another T-28 along with infantry. Several HTs and flamers are lost. A group of T-34s and KVs is shelled in the center to supress them.

A flame tank is destroyed to the north... 2 more are spotted but conscripts can do nothing but cower in fear. North flank is fairly secure however.

Southern flank is a different story as Soviet lines crumble and fall back... hopefully to form another line further back. Conscripts run for their lives. Several are shot by furious commisars.

The center is still secure but my advance is halted by a fierce german counterattack of mechanised SS. 2 SS squads are destroyed including a half-track.

The Rush Continues.

Germans wreck the Soviet southern flank and center rolling over a platoon of KVs with flamers and Pz IIIs. Further in the center a couple of T-34s are taken out by Pz IIIs. In the north, German flamers encounter a lonely T-28 but fail to take it out.

A flame tank is blown to the North...Another manages to escape cannon fire from no less than 3 AFVs...North is still relatively stable. Middle is also holding firm but southern flank is disintegrating faster than I have expected. Ingenious use of smoke rounds and flame tanks have done a devastating blow to the Soviet army.

Germans slowly approach middle vhexes clearing their way of remaining Soviet infantry. In the north a damaged flamer finishes adjacent T-34. A recon AC approaches the northern vhexes from behind and harasses engineers left to protect them. Katyushas cause some infantry losses.

A flame tank and a Panzer III destroyed in staunch defense. They were traded for two IS-30 AT guns...

German main attack is materializing in the center, with more than a platoon of Panzer III plus supporting infantry in the middle. Some airborne troopers pushed back by recon screen and engineers.

Germans seize central vhexes pushing back engineers left to protect them, SS squad rallied and burnt both T-34 and KV that killed PzIII last turn. Elsewhere Germans advance as well but no major enemy contingents are spotted. Where did all the Soviets go?

Soviet withdrawal slowly turning into a rout as units start to disobey their commander's order to rally. Soviet strength in the north is still holding however. Central hexes are bombarded by half-loaded Katyushas; to try to slow down the German assault. Smoke rounds from 81mms once again cover their advance. Soviet troopers & conscripts grip their guns in fear and anticipation... They are determined to eat away at the German forces even if it cost them their lives.

Germans continue to develop their advance losing 2 Pz IIIs to mines and engineers, T-34 is burnt by another Pz III and KV is toasted by a flamer.

Soviet KV-1 defending northern VHes try to combat a Pz-III and Pz-IV at the same time... Numerous shots richochet and break up on its front and rear hull & turret before a shot through the driver's slit finally knocks out the heavy tank.

Engineers down south fail to destroy a Pz-III.

Not much action this turn as Soviet forces prepare for the German onslaught.

Germans mop up the seized ground slowly moving forward toward rear Soviet vhexes looking for opponent troops which are doing a very good job in hiding.
