Well you are doing miles better than me.

Presumably that enemy held victory point location in Lauterbach is because you have killed the enemy units but haven't yet passed one of yours over the hex.

12 Abrams across the Eisenbach looks promising and the spot near Rixfeld is good too I think.

Altipueri,

The 1-32nd is in big trouble. Hopefully, I can hang onto LAUTERBACH. Trying to dislodge the Soviets would be painful...

Good work on the AAR! Looks like a real scrap! I haven't played this scenario and will certainly have to give it a go.

CapnDarwin and OldSarge,

It is a brutal fight. But it has also been a good challenge.

Glad you like the AAR.

You've got a big win here haven't you?

Almost all the VPs and enemy down to 30%

Didn't you get a "do you want to stop now or carry on" option? I can't remember the above posts.

It's late and I've had a few drinks so accuracy unlikely. :)

Alipueri,

Yes, the soviets are down to less than 30%. I got the option to stop and decided to carry on. I had a marginal victory at that point. Still do and the percentage has gotten worse for me...

Have a good day,

It's rare that going past the sudden death results in a better percentage or score. Most players will push for objectives for the points, but end off trading off high cost units for low cost enemies.

Okay, I got a 62% when the game ran out - not as good as I had with the Sudden Death. Oh well.

AAR

Things I did well:

My initial plan was good, based upon the intelligence received

I think I reacted well to the changing situation.

Use of my AT resources, especially in the North was very good.

What could I improve on: Lots!

Not happy with how I used my artillery – I did not realize early enough that they were linked to the Bn HQs. I should have moved them forward to help out more. As it was, I had to leave them on call most of the time.

I was too slow to respond to the situation. I should have moved my initial reserves into the battle for LAUTERBACH much earlier. The Inf company would have really been helpful.

My plan for the 3-32nd was way too ambitious. The road to ANGERSBACH was covered and I really never got moving in the right direction. I should have anticipated that the Soviets were going to come out of the woods to the South of LAUTERBACH. T

Final Thoughts

This was an enjoyable battle that I should have halted when the Soviets hit the 70% casualty mark. The last little bit was a little tedious.

It was nice having a wide variety of resources to use - from the AT units, to the arty to the air support.
