Good catch of transports. A pity they had unloaded..

Ok game has progressed a couple of weeks and I messed up royally and by the numbers !!!

1. Japanese raiders hit my 1st West Coast to PH convoy with surface and air attacks and the CL and 6 DD escort was overwhelmed so I sent Saratoga and a a 7 DD TF our to rescue the convoy well Saratoga won the fight but took 2 Torpedoes from float torpedo bombers for her pains

2. My surface TFs are in tatters KB all 6 PH carriers arrived off of Java in last week of December and damaged a lot of my best cruisers

3. Raiders in the Indian Ocean are driving me nuts hitting convoys left right and centre I need carrier groups to hunt them down my losses in ships fleei g the DEI have been painful

4. Worst of all my delaying action by the two Australian Bdes was wildly successful allowing all up country forces to get back to Singapore and performing an excellent fighting withdrawal to Singapore however the early arrival of KB in DEI caught them before they had passed the Java /Sumatra gap and they were both annihilated in transit

5. Japan has taken all of Borneo all of Malaya except Singapore, MacArthur is penned up in Manila Fiji has fallen and NO reinforcements apart from refugees from Malaya have arrived in SWPAC or SOPAC it has not been a good srart

I seriously underestimated the impact of the Japanese and German raiders on my Indian Ocean transports and the speed of KB getting into the Java Sea has crippled my Evans I have lost numerous ships by waiting just one or two days too long

The AMC raiders are nasty what was I thinking of I must be a total sadist

Especially tough when you assign your carriers to hunt raiders and the damn raider float planes put fish into your carriers.

Those pesky AV riders were the most annoying thing for me when battling against the previous Nasty Ironman. Darn things can stay at sea forever, hold their own against cruiser SCTFs and evade CV attention. You just cannot rely on any particular part of ocean on the map being safe.

I have 4 weak light bomber sqns (Vincents and Hudsons)

A TF of 3 operational CA's (Canberra, Pensacola, Louiville) 3 x CL's (Leander, Perth and Achilles)

On the new map there are many invasion points so I am feeling very very exposed I need to get some US reinforcements to NZ ASAP

Fiji and New Cal have both fallen and NZ is very exposed

Still waiting for you to post that matrix of variant points you use.

Japanese Bypassed Rabaul and went straight for PM both are holding but will fall in a few days my land forces are

5 Militia Divs - still using militia squads and in poor shape
6 Cav Bdes - not yet converted to motor or armoured Bde
3 Inf Bdes - in decent shape

I also have the 3 'Bird' Bns and about 9 mixed cavalry and armoured regiments (with no tanks)


At sea I have a TF of the Australia and Adeilade and that's it and again a few light bomber sqns

En route I have 1 Dutch Regt from Java and 11th Indian Div plus whatever cruisers or destroyers escape the debacle in the DEI

PI

Overrun I have 1700 AV in Manila lvl 2 forts and 50000 supply so should hold for a while

Borneo being overrun

Sinagpore invested and cut off

Java, Sumatra and Timor still mine but not for long - my surface assets cannot operate in DEI any more so I am pulling them back

Burma I have pulled back to Mandalay and will try to hold on there for a while Burma Div and 5th Chinese Army are concentrating there

Ceylon is also quite weak despite 18th British Div and several Indian Bdes

Basically I am totally screwed !!!

What have you done with this AI?
I have never seen the AI move this rapidly and in these directions.

Hilo, Johnston Island and the air raids on the battleships on the West Coast are recognizable, but these moves in SoPac are not.

Can this AI be adapted to other Ironman scenarios like #40?
