The snow continues. WWI like conditions prevail across the front. We attack Rouen but are repulsed 3 time. Losses about 10 each. I don't mind that versus the Canadians. We move up to Paris.

The Allies attacked the Nordic Convoy sinking 3 Merchants with their subs. Not much I can do about it.

Meanwhile the Italians start to rattle their sabres. The Brits seem unperturbed by it all.

February 2nd, 1940.

Rain across the front. But we grind forward again and manage to take Rouen this time and the hex due south of it. The next objective will be to try and get 3 hexes adjacent to Paris.

Drama's in the Norwegian Convoy's. We are taking a pasting. This is the 3rd turn in a row we have suffered heavy losses of Merchant ships.
How I wish I could suspend this madness.

Very quite turn. Rain. No attacks attempted. But the Norwegian carnage continues. The British suddenly seem to have hit the panic button in Egypt though. Many fleets are spotted speeding towards the land of the Pyramids.

We gain another hex adjacent to Paris. If we hold it perhaps we can risk an attack, even in rain.

When is this damn blizzard going to end in Sweden [:(]

Cold weather arrives and Paris is taken. France will negotiate next turn. The BEF now finds itself in trouble. Italy is poised to attack in Egypt. And at long last the suicide convoy runs along the Norwegian coast have ended.

I'm curious, in my AAR you made the following two statements:
ORIGINAL: Michael T
And no Brits in France. So imagine the extra pain if they were.
ORIGINAL: Michael T
Couldn't agree any less with what you guys think about the French campaign. But there you go, that's what makes playing other players fascinating.

Now this:

Do you still disagree with our assessments after having knocked France out of the war before the historical launch date of the Schlieffen plan even arrives?

Nothing has occurred in this game to change my view. Robert has not played the Allies like I would have.

We are greeted with the following report. Oh happy days. The Fuhrer's train arrives in Paris.

Unfortunately for the Reich the Englander's are escaping. The weather turns foul and they manage a 'Dunkirk' from Le Harve.
Damn it. I thought I had them. Heavy rain. So ends the French Campaign.

And finally, Italy's glorious advance in to Egypt. Along with an Amphibious assault on Port Said to boot.

Note that this game was started before the French got their reinforcements rushed in the last patch. Likely not possible to pull off such an early defeat of France anymore.

The Axis also got huge weather luck in this game. I wish I had had such luck in mine.

Note: guard your ports, people.

Well a bunch of technical issues really soured this turn. See this https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4713379

Anyway I had originally saved a bunch of pics for the original series of naval battles around Port Said but after all the drama's I couldn't be bothered.

So I lost about 3/4 of the Italian Navy. But I had landed in Palestine and Syria. Waiting for clear weather in the Balkans. Or at least Cold. I would dearly have loved so send out some raiders this turn but the bugged raider feature precludes that type of action ATM. Bad weather and the Brits sending fleets to the Med would have been great timing for some surface raider action. Oh well.

Here is a copy of the email I sent to Robert regarding the reloads.

----------------------------------------------

Hi Robert

I had problems with this turn. I completed my turn and when I uploaded it failed. And unlike WITE if you get a fail to upload it doesn’t save the turn for another upload attempt. I will be posting about that. Anyway the problem was we had a massive series of naval battles around Port Said. In the turn where the upload failed I lost a lot of ships, but not too bad. You took some losses as well. I also invaded Palestine. Anyway when I tried to re-do the move I could not get similar results immediately. It took me 4 reloads to get close results. You don’t have to worry. The results in the 4th reload are better for you than the original. I lost way more ships, including my BB. And you took virtually no losses. The invasion of Palestine is exactly the same though.

Very painful.

I am very impressed with your approach to the Desert Campaign and the landings in Egypt and the Levant.

Curious to see if the British will manage to undermine your port supply, though.

I need to finish this campaign before too many UK troops arrive. The Regia Marina is fineto.

As expected the RN hunt down the remnants of the Italian Navy. Damaging many more ships but luckily for us none are actually sunk. The survivors flee back to Taranto without further incident. I will post a pic of the fleet next turn.

On the ground much better news. We continue to bring in more troops to the Levant and link up with the forces advancing from Libya/Egypt. The British defences are fragmented. Next turn I expect to start to capture some ports. He needs to evacuate or reinforce heavily. The forces he has there are insufficient.

Meanwhile the weather is holding back our planned attack on Yugoslavia.
