Following PanzerMike's advice, I increased saturation a bit, making sea and rivers much darker. I'm not sure wether I should keep it as this yet, but anyone downloading from the link will now get this version.

The names of the countries might be added to the Map and the names for the anonymous cities. The river names are well done which is nice.

I could be wrong, but I think adding names to the map is a scenario mod, not a map mod, meaning a new scenario would need to be created to add the names.

Thanks. I'm rather happy with it myself.
With a little luck – he hasn't promised anything yet – Alvaro will give me the ability to make different graphics for divisions, corps and armies.

Uxbridge, how do you imagine using that feature? They're already differentiated with the traditional 'XX', 'XXX' and 'XXXX' symbology.
Alvaro has said one of the extra inf slots in the units.png file is currently planned for future motorized infantry and the other he is unsure about. I'd like to see that one perhaps for small corps so we can differentiate it from a large corps. If I'm not mistaken, there's no quick, eye-contact way of differentiating small and large corps at the moment.
Awesome job on these counters, by the way!

You're quite rigth – there's a huge difference between seeing and reading, where the former is much easier for our perception. The formation designations fall into the cathegory "reading", not "seeing", and is therefore less apparent.
I think I will simply solve it by having a lighter tone for smaller units. So each time you "halve" the formation, you dilute the colour tone in the infantry symbol.
But Alvaro will have the last word on wether this can be reality.

Understood and makes sense.
Alvaro, if you do decide to enable Uxbridge's request, let me recommend changing the symbol for a small corps from XXX to something else similar, perhaps [XXX]. That is easily recognizable as a corps yet clearly denotes a difference.

I think M. Royer's solution is good for differentiating different corps.

Some new weather effects, a mixture of my efforts and those of PanzerMike.
Rain.

I'm using your coastline as well. If anyone download my files as a package, that will be in it. Okey by you?
Now it's time to start play in earnest.

Yeah sure, I don't mind. And I will start playing more now too. Been holding off a bit, waiting for patch 4.

I agree, I like that snow graphic too. Why didn't you fill more of the hex for rain? I suspect it will look better, maybe.

No real intention. Probably because I first tried with a "dark sky", letting the drops hang from it. It didn't look good so I skipped the sky and just let the drops hang were they were.
Do you mean a tighter density of drops or filling more of the hex?

Filling the whole hex. If you saw mine I was going for more density, esp. for heavy rain.
I think the direction you and PanzerMike are headed, streaky but less dense, looks better.
One general thing I notice is when the whole hex isn't filled, a zoomed-out view gives a strong repeat-patterning visually which doesn't look as good in my opinion.
Anyhow, once you and/or PanzerMike settle I'll probably start using yours/his instead of mine [:)]

You're right about the zoomed out pattern. Very annoying, especially since it now seems to be going in a diagonal direction. I think I will add a couple of snowflakes in the snow graphic to straighten that up, but keep the heavier upside of the hex. And adding a little more rain in general.

Reading another thread, I realised that some people are actually using my graphics. I have changed them from now and then, using them only myself. But maybe it's time for a new posting, so the latest version can now be downloaded.
Most notable change is that I'm now playing with a somewhat muted map, that makes the units stick out better. I also thought the British and American units being too dark, and the Russian units too red, so I stole colours from other nations and gave to the mentioned ones. There's no stringent pattern to the changes I did–it was done at my own fancy, but all HQ's should have a small orange dot on their left foot, making them easier to spot behind air and naval units.
