Sorry chiming in late. You may be a WITPAE rookie but by the looks of your Matrix Legion of Merit, you are no neophyte to strategy war gaming. Learning the ins and outs of the rules are always the hardest part and the trade offs between history and playability the quirks of the game. I am sure you will find much to enjoy and some things that annoy you. However, since you are a WWII history buff you already have a firm foundation to base your actions off of. Good luck and pleasant WITPAE journeys.
Thanks!

Shokaku and Zuikaku may have sunk but until there is some intel to confirm that they do not go on the sunk ships list. There is an exception to that - any ship that takes a torpedo hit is always put on the other side's sunk ships list, even if it is in no danger of sinking.
There is also a provision in short scenarios that heavily damaged ships can be withdrawn for repairs and they just disappear from the board. For the 2 CVs, I put their odds at about 50/50 sunk or withdrawn.
You are too hard on your grading of your performance. If one of the IJN CVs sank, you get a B+.
BTW, Lex will not be ready for Midway. Even in a shipyard it takes two days to repair one point of major float damage.
Also, thanks!
By the way I came across three videos that I found very interesting and thought I'd share (though, some or all of these videos may be known to the highly knowledge crowd here).
1. USS Enterprise Flight Ops Video from early 1942.
2. Actual film w/sound of the Japanese Surrender.
3. Color video w/no sound of the surrender, the color film was discovered in the 90's and restored some time after that.

So in the Coral Sea scenario I have this aircraft tender, AV Tangier. I can load him and if I do "Cargo Capacity:" goes from 2840 / 0 to 2840 /1700. Ok, I get that. He's loaded 1700 points worth of supplies (I assume?).
But what now? I'm not able to set a destination for him. He's not included in any of the task forces. What am I suppose to do with him? I thought that somehow I could use him to service sea planes operating from a base without an airfield?
How should I but using him?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the elementary question.

Yes, with the onboard supply you can send the AV to a dot or base hex, disband it, and then - potentially - support the number of seaplanes listed near the bottom right of the unit card. Particularly useful if you want to place, say, two entire PBY units at some forward location that doesn't have a Land Unit with air unit support capability.

Or it can perform the same functions described by Kull without disbanding if placed in a Support TF.
