As Woody said already, hot fixes can be applied to your Steam game, just apply manually

btw, these quick updates are "beta" updates. They are not final. They come out to help solve critical issues and give the devs some feedback on potential fixes. They will not come out on steam until they are ready for final release. Posting fixes to Steam is a pain. So the devs want to make sure the fixes are final before going to Steam.
By all accounts this is the final 1115.8 build. It's a newer version, it doesn't say beta, it has patch notes, it's stickied announcement thread, it says it'll be on Steam and there is a specific "beta 1115.8.1" thread just below it.
It's very confusing for Steam users who happen to find this forum to see this thread from days ago yet not have any update available in Steam for this version.

I meant to mention also that Steam has significant hoops to jump through also. All you can do with Steam is put in the queue and wait. They can easily solve the problem by not releasing the Matrix version until the Steam version is pubbed.
Let's vote on that. Yes to hold the Matrix version until Steam is out. No to post all updates as soon as ready.
No for me.

Let me clarify my previous: The game said nothing had been updated, and was still running B1115.3. I did not verify that by checking it against the change log of fixes.
With me the update extracted and had overwritten the CMO folders and files successfully. There's no question
about that from me.
The only conclusion I can draw is there's a bug with CMO not identifying and updating the version number
which no doubt is down to Matrix Games to address.
Well I've tried all the usual tricks to get the version number to change from B1115.3 to B1115.8 and
although the files extract and overwrite the existing folders and files in the CMO folder.
When starting the game it still shows as B1115.3
And this is after:
Turning the Anti-Virus completely Off.
Using a different Unzip to extract the update files as opposed to the one I normally use and
just for Good Measure running the Unzip under Administrator Rights !!
But still the same - the game starts up showing its using B1115.3
Just some thoughts when I installed CMO, it installed to the Matrix Games folder in Program Files(x86)
whereas the original CMANO is installed to the root drive C:\Matrix Games folder.
Whether CMO being in Program Files(x86) could cause authority issues with updates ? I cannot say.

I have never been a fan of Steam so definitely
vote no on delaying Matrix releases for Steam.

Curious why the delay between updates here and the update going on steam?
Cause most of the time we're effectively beta testers before things get pushed to the masses on steam. Rarely is there a long delay between the two.

Same here; the download and extraction proceeded nominally. I just did the same thing with 1115.8.1 and it seems to have fixed the ground unit pathfinder issue I experienced before, which is consistent with Dimitris' announcement in the first post above. However, the opening menu screen still says 1115.7 as does the "About Command" option under Help, so not sure what's going on.
Strange. Sure, the Launcher shows 11157...but my About in-game with a scenario loaded says:

I like the Steam version myself, having a lot less crap to deal with on it, but, no, no need to hold Matrix releases to wait for Steam to catch up. It's not at all difficult to download these beta/test versions, extract them in Downloads, and then copy them into place in the correct path. That way, if Steam does happen to overwrite the new with the old, which almost never happens to me, but does happen, I still have it in downloads.
Also, I don't usually overwrite the last revision of Command.exe. I rename it with the version in the name before I copy the new stuff in, so I can go back to it if the test/beta build is crap, which does happen, and not just with Matrix/CMO stuff.

Nothing really prevents Steam users from grabbing and using the unofficial updates linked in the forums, so I really don't see the problem most of the time. I did that the entire time I owned CMANO via Steam without issue. Though thankfully I'm Steam-free for the C:MO version, didn't make that mistake (for other reasons) again.
@mavfin - I tend to do the same when it comes to keeping various revisions around to swap back if needed.

Well something strange is going on that is beyond my capabilities. I've redownloaded and unzipped everything with Norton off, starting with 1115.8 and then 1115.8.1, with everything normal, but the upgrades did not get activated. I was only able to upgrade to 1115.7 through the game launcher when Matrix put it out.

I can't do anything with this file, do you need a special tool to unzip it?

7-zip is good too, and my inner cheapskate likes the fact that it's free.

If i understand correctly you have had also CMANO. Did you also when using it downloaded these small patches, extracted them and copied to cmano folder?
There is no difference in the way you use these patches in cmano and cmo. If you have succesfully been able to use patches in cmano you should be able to do same in cmo.
My procedure with cmano and cmo with Norton is exactly the same. First download zip-file, extract and then copy to game folder overwriting the files what are in game-folder.
After that i started the game and checked if it was updated or not. If not went to norton and released quarintine of command.exe. About 9/10 times norton did quarantine it but after you release it start cmano or cmo it should now be updated.
If you are not familiar with releasing quarintine then here is guide for you. If that will not solve the problem, then its something else than Norton.

The launcher is clearly a separate program that chains the main game; in a rapid development environment to squash bugs, it's only necessary to show the version number on the latter. When a full official update is released, doubtless that will reflect the new version number throughout.

That's why I said: "Sure, the Launcher shows 11157", in the way of "Yeah, just ignore that, it's irrelevant."
