There is nothing wrong with the game striving for more historical accuracy. Germany could have certainly done a lot better against Russia historically. A game among two equally skilled players should result in a better than historical outcome, it my view.
That said, eventually economic reality would eventually catch up to the Axis, and that game between two equally skilled players should always result in the Axis fighting for their survival. The Axis player "wins" by surviving well past historical occurrence.

Still have to play a 1.06 game, but some previous ideas to help historically balance the game:

- reduce the percentage of resources obtained from conquest- currently 50% which is quite arbitrary and optimistic. Maybe lower to 1/3, especially in the USSR.

- reduce the number of cities generating morale effects- especially in the USSR but also in Germany. The effect of morale should be toned down a little I think.

"If you'd like I can show you a game as how I play the allies".
I - and many with me - would certainly really welcome this!

I've started an AAR. We are still in the early stages so there's not much content yet

I saved Russia in my playthrough by launching early D-day in May 1942. Americans landed near Bordeaux and British in Normandy. With my North Africa units I invaded Italy, yes I lost them all, but Germans pulled some units from Russia to defend Italy and it gave Russia breathing space.
