Dear Fellow JTCS Gamers... thank you!

Having just upgraded my old laptop Windows 10 to a new laptop Windows 10, I encountered all the problems with much frustration. The good news is that the posted solution which I followed, did work and I'm a happy guy.

Reiterating the need to: (a) install the Microsoft Visual C++ add on. I installed all that were compatible with my new laptop; (b) get yourself a external hard drive, and copy all JTCS EF, WF, RS files to a unique folder name from your old laptop; (c) install the JTCS software from Matrix web site onto your new laptop but not the upgrade; (d) run JTCS... if no success with the auto start, create a start up shortcut for EF, RS & WF individually and run these separately, these latter startups should work (but in my case EF, didn't); then (e) upload from the Matrix website, the JTCS update; (f) once uploaded, the auto start for all three combined WF, RS, EF, should then work; If not, reboot your laptop and success should happen; footnote (g), during the process, I lost a number of my 'created' campaign games, but this was solved by listing all JTCS files that I'd created on my external drive during the past two years or so, and I merely copied these from my external drive to my C:/... JTSC merely skipping those that were already installed... and they reappeared when starting up the JTCS menu. Can't wait for JTCS III.

Best wishes

Rob

The linked to file no longer exists at microsoft.com

Where is it now?

I did have this working on another machine, but not on this new install (the side-by-side new configuration problem)

seems to work. I note the 'supported OSes' stop at Windows 7!

You (I) need the x86 (32-bit) version installed, because just having the x64 (64-bit) one doesn't enable it to work here. Unlike the VC++2010 redistributables, it looks like you can have both x86 and x64 installed.

Hello,

I just installed it on Windows 11 - 1.01 runs fine - did nothing.

Installed 2.02 & even installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package as suggested as I had side by side error.
Changed compatibility. Still no luck. Will not run. Still says side by side error.

Well I will be a Pig that can fly!

I believe I didn't need the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package for x64
as once I installed the x86 one - the game works like a charm!!!!!

Yes, they are absolutely necessary. Glad to hear you're all set now!

I was having the side-by-side problem until I installed the 32 bit version in the new link above (thanks for that as the old link is kaput). All working now ;)
