I had 3 Crotale batteries randomly spawn right in the middle of Benghazi. Were able to intercept the attacks on the Benina and the Military Barracks.

The key SAMS to takeout are the SA-3s. SA-2s can't fire if you come in below 3,500 AGL but you can't go below the SA-3s.

Nothing you can really do about the AAA and SHORAD SAMs but get lucky.

Thanks again for the AAR. Libyan AD is still looking too good. They had, by most accounts, the most sophisticated AD in the world at the time but they were very poorly trained. Not to mention some of their SAM operators had harsh lesson taught to them a few weeks before in one of the Attain Document operations.

Along with a chance at delay their initial reaction I'm thinking about making the AD have a higher chance of turning their radars off. From my research, a lot but not all of the SAMs were blind fired. Since CMO doesn't simulate that, except maybe in the damage roll, I think having less firing might be a good alternative.

Feet Dry (Does the USAF use that terminology?).
Yes indeed, they do.

Are they set to Novice? I didn't look, but if not that is something I would consider.

Yes they are.

In addition to a slightly higher chance to blink their radars, I've modified the script to adjust the SAM WRA on an individual unit bases. This will essentially blink their WRA settings along with the radars. This should help stagger the SAM batteries coming online.

New version should be out sometime this weekend or early next week. I need to do a play through to verify all the revised AD changes are working.

Hi everyone, I've updated the scenario to v1.1. Download link in the first post. Steam workshop version has also been updated.

This isn't the final version I had planned. The special action to allow overflight of France or Spain effects the scenario time as well as all the ready times. Scripting is done but I need to play test it a few times to make sure the timing still works properly. Since that's the only thing that was holding up releasing I cut it for this release.

I moved the designer notes, hints, etc out of the mission briefing into a PDF. Its included with the zip file. Steam users please use the google drive link on the Seam Workshop page or download the zip file.

Cheers,
Kushan

Just a bump to say thanks Kushan04 for this scenario!

That of course is beyond my level, though it is a pleasure just to have and run it :D

Thank you. Funny you bumped this now, I'm currently working on another update. Mostly back end Lua optimizations. Biggest change gameplay wise will be a complete rework of the Libyan air defense response. I never have been happy with it. Will be taking some ideas from my Iran scenarios.

I'm hoping to have it ready before my yearly El Dorado Canyon real-time stream on the 14-15th.

Thanks for the links! I just recently came across that news reports video. Read Stances books several times; it's been one of my main sources of information. That USNI article is new to me. Amazing, I've literally put hundreds (probably 1,000+) of hours of research into this over the years and occasionally new sources still appear.

The Operations Room video was ok. It got the general concept right but there were some inaccuracies in the details, at least from my research on the operation. They could have additional sources I haven't seen.

1000 hours! A work of love, thanks for sharing it :)

I do not see any source cited in The Operations Room video.

Hey there Kushan,

Has that version made its way into the CSP?

Cheers

Not yet. I got distracted by others things. It's coming just not sure when right now. Was originally waiting for Jim Rotramels book to come out to use as another source. He was a WSO for the 48th TFW and helped plan the raid. It was supposed to be out this year but it's been pushed back to early next year. Not a bad thing from my perspective. I'm currently doing, another, update for my Iran scenarios then I can put them to bed...yeah right.

I'm also working on a new Libya scenario, kinda. It's a combination of El Dorado Canyon, Down Town, and my Iran scenarios. It's not reflective of any real or hypothetical operation. The idea is for the player to be able to choose a scenario size, objectives, and deploy available forces via special actions. I've built out a tiered IADS. If the regional ADOCs are destroyed, the associated SAM regiments will be cut off from each other. If the SAM regimental HQs are destroyed then the associated units will be set to no comms. It should be ready for testing in a few weeks.

Not sure what I'm going to move onto after it's done. I've got several ideas floating in my head, including the EDC rework.
