In the tournament, are there rules in the case of a turn that doesn't save due to faulty internet connection and one has to reload intentionally? Had no problems until today- but then it happened.
For PBEM games in general, I wonder if it would be possible for the game to check the status of internet connection before uploading the turn (yeah, I know that the players should do this, but it would be good to have a back up). Alternatively, if the game doesn't upload- could the turn be saved locally while the player tries to restore internet and try again?

There are no rules for faulty internet connections but very skewed download/upload ratios are reviewed by the powers that be over the PBEM++ server.
For the question on saving locally, I see your point here but unfortunately this is not an option as nothing dynamic, e.g. saved game information that changes from turn to turn, is stored locally and this is on purpose. It prevents hacking and potential cheating.

On this subject... 90% of the time i suffer huge upload times (5-10 mins) after a PBEM++ turn : this has happened for the last 2 months - am i alone in this?

I dont know if theres a good solution to this, but I clearly would have won both games in first tournament, as my opponent was less experienced and frankly I think would have big problems beating the AI on normal settings. However my opponent stopped playing instead of resigning. So that was registered as a stalemate, which seems taking the bit of the idea of tournament out of the game...
Also, I think 14 days is too short time for most games. I would suggest one month instead.

In tournament for me it's now stalemate current games(not finished, need much more time) and new mirror game against different player.

Thanks guys and yes we did have shorter rounds in mind to help us exercise the beta test here a bit quicker. An official tournament should/will have longer rounds and I believe we've now worked out an ideal scoring system to deal with incomplete games and the stalemates you are seeing right now.

I imagine it should prove fairly simple to add the following to PBEM++
~ add a game set-up option of count as ranking game
~ add maximum days per turn 15 ?
~ record result on server win/lose etc turn expired = loss
~ display ranking table
~ allow set-up option for public games to only be accepted by ladder challenger, which could be someone who is a few places above or below you on ladder

So, i see that there was some kind of score system in beta tournament, i hope you got some good information for the future. When we will see the next tournament? Any ideas for the rules to publish?

Hi Epekepe,
It was helpful indeed and we'll now take some time to sort through the data and then have a better idea on how to finalize the rules, scoring and so on, for our planned future official tournament.
Thanks again, and thanks to all for participating in the Beta,
Hubert
