I have watched a few episodes recently on the (American) H&I (Heroes & Icons) Network. As a kid, I used to watch Combat! avidly in its first run in the early to mid 1960s. The series is not as good as I remember it, but Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers etc. sort of spoil the old productions, don't they?

Consider the budget and the time spent for each episode, Combat comes out ahead by far for what it is worth.
Not that Band of Brothers is not worth watching. I may even buy it on DVD.

Both my father and mother were ballet dancers in the NY ballet company (STOP LAUGHING!!): I had so many after school fights since I was always teased in gym class about wearing ballet slipper or tights or a tutu. I wish my parents named me Sue, like the Johnny Cash song, since it would have been easier to deal with!
Here is the episode where a an army soldier(former ballet dancer) takes out a German machine gun:

I own and watch
Band of Brothers biannually, alternating one year to the next with
The Pacific, which I also own and, of the two, is more my favorite.
Can't wait for Hanks & co. to finish and release
The Mighty Eighth.
