See turn 10 Kiev & Cherkassy area, 6th army and 1PzG infantry (assault formation!) are covering tens of miles of Dnepr shore, hugging the enemy, all divisions on the front side by side. They're still there 2 turns later.

My guess is this Dnepr screen could be done with more than 3 times less unit density, it's not like the Soviets will make assaults across the Dnepr. And if they did, it wouldnt really matter.

With a light regiment screen on the river, half of the divisions could be resting or assisting the 1PzG "fist" assaults.

And actually with the CPP rules, the German units shouldn't be on the front line at all, unless you absolutely want to hold that ground. You'll get 3x CPP by not being in contact with enemy or in pending hex at the end of your turn. It's the Red Army's responsibility to build the lines, Germans are there to break them

Thanks for the help, tips and suggestions. I have learned a lot from this game and applied in my second game against SmokingDave and getting better results. Personally I think Keitherson is a better player than I. Even though I have a lot of experience with WitE2 from testing, there is something to be said about playing real humans lol.

I think I have been too worried about Soviet counter attacks and that is why I am spread so thin. It seems its not working and every time I look at Keitherson's stacks of 10-50 points of defense I get sick in my stomach and see no way to break the lines.

We are on turn 15 or 16 and the end is in sight for a SD for the Axis, I don't think I can pull off the 88 VP to survive the winter.

I have a gut feeling that the CV uncertainty is more pronounced than in WitE1, so don't get too scared of the big ugly Red Army stacks
